I've done that - it is just about gauging the type of friend that will accept it and a semi appropriate location. The options that have worked for me (which you may wish to consider trying) are: On the walk home from a pub - just saying something like "Hold on a sec, I need a pee" and taking a couple of steps into an alley to have a pee. I have answered according to the poll, but I would say that most of the answers there are fairly standard peeing positions and as such are not necessarily that discrete, other than the fact that the aim of peeing in those places would be to find a place where nobody else is there, so nobody sees you. To me, peeing discretely means peeing when other people are close or certainly within sight of you and they don't detect that you are peeing even though you are doing it in front of them. I would second this. Parks and beaches in the early evening after toilets have been closed are good if you find people sat drinking - with no toilets available. It doesn't need to be late - just after the toilets are closed, so often any time after 6pm depending on the venue. Yes, totally. I don't see sightings very often - because I don't have the opportunity to get out on my own, but that is my doing, not because the sightings are not there to be had. Yes, there is a big element of luck as in whether you find yourself in the right place at the right time, but you can influence that luck significantly by looking for the signs of previous peeing, finding areas where there are large numbers of people outside where there are no toilets; nightclub queues, bus stops, fast food outlets are likely candidates.
