For the first 5 years of my life, I was an only child, until my sister was born. During that early time, starting when I was 2 or 3 years old, my mother never closed the bathroom door, when she peed. So peeing involved lifting a skirt or dress, unhooking a set of garters to the stockings, in the rear, slipping down panties (knickers) to at least mid thigh, if not lower, sitting down on the toilet, with the skirt or dress lifted in the rear, and gathered in her lap, in the front, and peeing. This was followed by wiping, and the reverse of the undressing process.

I watched my mother do all of this, with great interest and fascination, several times a day, for at least a couple of years, as a little boy. In all of that time, I was never able to see her stream, or her lady parts, although I was very curious, and tried hard. I didn't know how girls and women differed from boys and men. In answer to my questions, she simply told me that ladies and girls had to sit down to "wee wee" (her term), while boys and men could do it standing up. But she wouldn't tell me why. As an extension of this story, my mother would take me with her, on the rare occasions when we went shopping in the downtown area of the city.
