We're all in favour of friendships - let's face it, we're in enough of a minority in the big wide world, and it's absolutely awesome the way PF brings us together and lets us share in our common bond.

In that sense friendship is all to be encouraged.  However there are a few aspects to the site rules to work within - and those are rules which have been written and evolved slightly to protect every member of the site.

We'd always encourage you to remember that there could be those amongst us who are not everything they say they are.  When you see staff posts repeatedly saying 'We're not a hook up site...'  those are generally written because new members who could be absolutely anybody are asking for physical contact with members.  We have site rules about asking for personal information, off-site communication details etc and also cautions about giving away that information for exactly those reasons - we have had underage members and no doubt we have had senior members portraying themselves as something other than their actual selves.

So, in any friendship please make sure you are as absolutely sure as you can be that the person is who you think they are.  Ongoing interactions over time are a great way to develop that trust.  Gradually learning more about people and getting to know them, seeing a consistent back story to their lives.  You probably wouldn't invite a random stranger into your home, and in the same way probably wouldn't meet an internet contact in the park without knowing enough to trust them.

Final point is we'd very much like you to enjoy your friendships on the site, rather than groups of people drifting away into little groups using other social media platforms.  That's why we don't allow sharing of other social media usernames in profiles or posts.

So within that framework 'Yes' we're all in favour of friendships - and I for one would be a hypocrite if I was saying otherwise.

I have to say I’m really disappointed in some of the comments I’m seeing here. 

Im obviously not going to name and shame, but the whole point of this community is friendship and sharing the fact that we have a common kink. Being able to understand each other when the rest of the world sees us as freaks. 
 

So it’s incredibly disappointing (and frankly verging on breaking site rules) to see that people are only prepared to be friends with others on the basis of fitting a certain pattern of age or gender.  That is discrimination which is not in line with Peefans principles.

And for those people feeling the need to quote an age and gender…. Why?   We’re not a dating agency or a hook up site.  Why does it matter. For the same reason why does location matter?

 Just do your posting, react to other people and let them judge whether they enjoy interacting with you or not.
