I'll quote my normal little stock comment here... As we're a forum, most communication is based on posts on the various threads of the forum which all the community can read and enjoy. We understand sometimes there may be more personal conversations where PM is a better option (noting that ALL site rules still apply to PM content). BUT - when the 'PM me' gets in the way of sharing posts in the forum that's when we all have a problem. Without posts on the forum pages there's no reason for established and new members to visit, and without site visitors then the site will collapse.

Note that in the case of ‘I think this may be a man pretending to be a young lady’ or ‘this person seems very young’ then there isn’t always much we can do. That's a good point @Admin - and could potentially deter, or at least slow, the occasional new members who make five trivial posts so they can start banging out the DMs - if they're limited to lest that five posts before a timeout kicks in. Maybe.

I know @Admin has done what's possible. For example, in response to the xstrip-ers it's now a thing that new members need to enter something in the Favourite Thing and Hottest Experience fields. Along with having a valid email address etc. The current spammers are a nuisance, they meet the entry criteria and then they rapidly hit all over the site - maybe 50 spam posts in an hour. But the good news is that one staff click of the spam button on their profile and their every post vanishes. Quick and easy.
