I've hesitated about posting this story for a long while. But, I decided to go ahead and post it. It's all true. Here goes... Speedy, I just saw that our high for the day next Thursday will be -3F. That's not the wind chill, but the actual temperature. When that happens, it's usually from cold air coming down from Canada. They nest in evergreens, like pine trees. You're most likely to see them near those. In Detroit, we have many evergreens in residential neighborhoods like mine.

They're called the Northern Cardinal and, yes, they stay here for the winter. I just checked on Wikipedia and they are in your province too. I saw one yesterday and it was 14 F outside. They are tough birds!

The photo below shows my favorite bird. Cardinals don't fly south for the winter. Seeing them on a snowy day is one of life's treasures. Like nearly all bird species, they are monogamous. The Mr. and Mrs. hanging out on a winter day. Cute!

Yes, some musicians can actually hum the tune as they read the music. This requires having perfect pitch. These people can also hear a note and tell you that it's a C or A, etc., regardless of what octave it's in. I've known people with this ability. What amazes me most are singers who can sight read.
