@gldenwetgoose already summed it up perfectly, but the black and orange theme was just temporary for Halloween. Its been a bit of a tradition here that the design of the forum sometimes adapts to special events, so you can expect a Christmas theme nearer the time as well! Gold members do get access to the orange & black theme (along with 10 others in different styles/colours) all year round as a thanks for their support. I agree PM's are more visible, but on the 'chatbox' popup in the bottom corner, there will be a number in a red circle if you have unread private live chats. So you will still see the notification if you've been offline. (As you correctly pointed out, private live chats is a gold feature only though). Obviously with the main live chatroom you won't get notifications (apart from the sound), as I can't imagine people would want to be notified of every message ever, just the ones live while you're here.

You already can. There's a feature called private messages. Click on anyone's profile and there will be a 'message' button. Or press the envelope icon in the top right corner of every page. As gldenwetgoose said, LIVE chat between members (facebook style) is a gold feature, as is unlimited inbox space. But sending private messages to others users is something everyone can do for free (once they've made a couple of non-spammy posts to prove they're a real person, which you already have). Or more like clips4sale where they have a mix of clips to choose from for a set price each? Hi Lulu, there's a box with a smiley face right above the textbox you type in when writing a post/message. It contains every emoji. On windows desktops, if you click in a text box and hold down the Windows key press the period (.) (or maybe semicolon if that doesn't work) it should bring up emojis as well. Hope that helps.

As Sophie said the button in the bottom right corner is easiest thing to do, and you can just click the button again to minimize/open it on any page. But you can also access the chat from the navigation bar too, so you could have it open in a separate full tab/window if you preferred. 🙂 Enjoy!
