The fun facts thread!

Recommended Posts

I thought it would be fun to make a thread where people could post fun facts about themselves. So here are a few of mine. I'll post more later to add suspense😜😜

1) Ive lost most of my feeling in 2 of my fingers from when I was little and accidentally cut myself in the hand. 4 of my nerves had stitches through the actual nerve and now they won't ever heal so now for the first of my life I only have pressure sensitivity in 2 of my fingers. It's convenient for handling hot dishes though so🤷

2) I'm an early riser. I usually get up at around 4-5 a.m and it gives me time to do things in the morning before the world wakes up

3) I'm very pale. This is kind of embarrassing since like being super pale isn't a great thing but I happen to be kind of photosensitive and also am allergic to most sunscreens. It's gotten better recently where it takes a little longer for me to burn than it used to but I don't want at all, so I'm stuck with pale skin. My friends and family sometimes say I'm a vampire😂

Please post some of yours and I'll post some more later🙂

Heres another one of mine

In person, I'm more introverted than extroverted. When I'm with friends I'm fairly open but as soon as anything personal comes up or I'm around people I don't know very well I get more reserved and quiet. I'm always worried about hurting other peoples feelings and everything I say is like hyper thought through to try and not hurt anyone. That ends up meaning I just don't talk a huge amount though.

OK,  one for me.

Back in the last century,  I once crashed an aeroplane and walked away from the wreck without a scratch.

(Luckily the plane was insured and they rebuilt it.  I was only hiring it by the hour!)

Ok, my turn.

I once had a German girlfriend when pretty young, and taught myself via cassettes and books how to speak, read and write some German.

When still at school aged only about 12 I went on a school trip part funded by my dad. It was a Mediterranean cruise. We flew out to Venice in Italy, sailed to Limassol in Cyprus, then Alexandria in Egypt - from whence we bussed to Cairo and back to see the pyramids - then sailed to Izmir in Turkey, and finally Athens in Greece, from where we flew home.

On the flight home from Athens - whilst flying over Paris - groups of three of us kids at a time were allowed into the cockpit to observe.

That was in 1977. The cruise ship I was on - the SS Uganda - was later used as a hospital ship in the Falklands War of 1982.

I was once the front passenger in a serious car accident in which the car ended up on it's side. I smashed through the windscreen head first, but walked away with nothing worse than a few minor cuts on my forehead after being knocked unconscious for a couple of minutes.

I did not take and pass my driving test until I was 47. Fortunately I passed first time.

When I was 15, when most other kids were into the latest chart hits or fashion statements, I got my mum and dad to buy me for my 15th birthday a copy of William Shirer's The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, an epic tome of over 1000 pages.

The only time in my life when I have ever broken a bone was at the age of 10 when the fattest kid in class fell on top of me in a PE lesson. This resulted in a fractured wrist. Good job I had yet to discover wanking at that age, lol.

Enough for now.

I used to have pet mice.

I used to have two pet rats - a black one and a white one.

At the moment I have a relatively rare black hamster.

As a kid I used to be blonde.

By adulthood my hair had turned a mousy brown.

Now it is slowly but surely disappearing whilst ever more of what remains is turning grey.

I still love to build Lego. Every Christmas my wife gets me some lego

Nothing at all wrong with that.  Big plus point that you’ve recognised Lego as being the correct name both singular and plural. No need for a spurious ‘s’ on the end.

Heres two more fun facts about me xD

1) I'm easily scared. I don't really like this aspect of myself but I will jump at like everything. Horror movies I mostly can't do but if I do watch one I do it in the morning with friends. This is kind of ironic however due to my next fun fact.

2) I don't really fear death. As long as my death is quick I don't really care when it is. My worst nightmare is having a disease where you suffer more and more until the end in a very physical way. This is magnified because I'm reading the Hot Zone right now about the history of Ebola and its frightening. If I ever contracted Ebola Zaire I would probably just end myself before all the symptoms started happening so I wouldn't be contagious and would have a quick and relatively painless death, is that weird?

Another one for me.  I have taken lessons in reading Thai characters.

For example "สบายดีไหม" says "sabaai dii mai?" which means "are you well?"

I'm not very good at it yet.  There are about 80 letters in the Thai alphabet,  and I can't remember all of them.  It takes me ages to spell out a word before I know what it is.

(I tried reading road signs while riding in a taxi,  but no hope.  🙄  )

While in the navy I've pissed off the sides of ships, ranging from destroyers to aircraft carriers. Pissed in native toilets, benjo's in Japan alongside giggling local girls in squat toilets on the south island of Kyushu.  Have used the facilities at the Great Bhuddah of Kamakura.

Sailed 2 Oceans and 9 seas.

Fired various and sundry firearms, from .22 derringers to 50 caliber Ma Deuce  beltfed military machine guns.

Living in Texas and being a citizen protected by the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, I go armed everywhere I go and am safer for that. I'm  the first  one the bad guys watch for, and the last they want to meet.

I write and edit technical manuals for a living, and write amateur true porn about me and my wife's sexual adventures. See my collection and read them all here https://reddit.com/r/truewetsex .

Well first off, thank you for your service. Sounds like a good way to see the world lol. What rank may I ask?

O to be in Texas lol. Here in Canada ccw is prohibited, I do have a non restricted rifle on me most times if iam driving around in my Polaris ranger or on the tractor lok. My Israeli made tavor or my swiss made sg 500 are my to 5.56 caliber rifles to carry. If allowed I would have a pistol or ar rifle with me lol
