oliver2 4,470
Andy Weir’s “Artemis” is set on a future moon colony. Our heroine describes to us a shower that reuses the first 20 litres of fresh water, and warns that you should not pee in it (1 in 20 doesn’t sound that bad...), and complains of having to leave her inexpensive living quarters for a late night piss. Orlanda, by Jacqueline Harpman, is an homage to Virginia Woolf, but is somewhat more frank about what happens when a woman, by magical-realist means, finds herself in a man’s body and realises (s)he has to pee. (Not pee, but in Tom Robbins’s Jitterbug Perfume there are very very many descriptions of sex involving copious amounts of cum. If you sip a drink every time semen is mentioned you will get drunk very fast) Edited September 11, 2019 by oliver2 Link to post
Kupar 13,351
I've been trying to remember a literary pee scene in a book I read a long time ago, and it's come back to me. It's in 'Balthazar' - one of the Alexandria Quartet novels by Lawrence Durrell, which I read as a teenager. The scene made a big impression on me - and the whole quartet of novels is a masterpiece (though very out-of-fashion now). 'Meanwhile Justine turned to the bed and, leaning down, said audibly: "Pursewarden, wake up." Then she put her palms to the top of her head and let out a long pure wail like an Arab woman - a sound abruptly shut off, confiscated by the night in that hot airless little room. Then she began to urinate in little squirts all over the carpet. I caught her and pushed her into the bathroom. It gave me the respite I needed to have a go at his heart. It was silent as the Great Pyramid. 1 Link to post

Kupar 13,351
My wife has started reading "This isn't the sort of thing that happens to someone like you" (published in 2012 by Bloomsbury). It's a collection of short stories by Jon McGregor. She read this out to me this morning - it's the opening of the story "If it keeps on raining". This is how his days begin. If you really want to know. Standing in his doorway in the cold, wet morning light and pissing on the stony ground. Waking up and getting out of bed and walking across the rough wooden floor. Opening the door and pulling down the front of his pyjamas and the weight of a whole night's piss pouring out on to the stony ground and winding down to the river which flows out to the sea. The relief of it. The long, sighing relief of it. He has to hold on to the door frame to keep his balance. He looks at the swirl and churn of the river. Boats passing, driftwood and debris. A drowned animal turning slowly in the current. Sometimes the people in the boats wave, but he doesn't wave back. He didn't ask them to come sweeping past like that while he's having his morning piss. 3 Link to post

jbrock868 1
To Kill a Mockingbird has a scene in which Jem and Scout were sneaking around the neighborhood at night. Mr. Avery was on his porch peeing off the side an incredibly long distance. Jem was in awe, but Scout, not really having any basis of comparison, was unimpressed. 1 Link to post
likesToLick 10,227
"The Mammoth Hunters" by Jean M Auel makes several mentions of the lead character, Ayla, collecting and storing her own urine to use for tanning leather. This is part of the "Earth's Children" series of books that begins with "Clan of the Cave Bear," and is set in a time approximately 25,000 years before the present day. The author also wrote some lovingly detailed passages about cunnilingus in the series. I think it must have been something she enjoyed very much. 1 Link to post

Kupar 13,351
"The Little Red Chairs" by Edna O'Brien. K has just started it, and read out a passage to me this morning ("because it's the sort of thing you'd like") lol. Some context. A stranger has set up a massage / sex therapy (?) business in a small Irish town (so far, so Edna O'Brien lol). His first customer is a nun: She would tell them about the coloured lights slicing through the air in the room, and the effigies of gods and goddesses and she would tell them about the sacred music, the offer of paper panties and the marvellous splay of his hands. But she would not tell them that when she got up from that treatment bed and he had left the room, her energy was prodigal, a wildness such as she had not known since her youth, out in the fields when she pissed against trees, the way men did, pissed unashamedly. She would not tell them that. 1 Link to post
