I've been seeing a gyno every year since I was 15... (Far too young I think). I've always only had a female gyno. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with a male gyno but that's just my personal preference to have a female because i feel more comfortable with one. the rest of my doctors are all males. 

Though I do have fantasies of a sweet attractive male gyno examining me.

I do often wonder if a male gynaecologist becomes kind of disinterested in sex etc.Like the old saying"taking coals to Newcastle".Looking at vaginas all day then when he gets home,having to satisfy the missus,might be a bit of a bore.I would think a woman would feel more at ease with a female doctor.

I wonder?Because at work,he MUST NOT show any sign of arousal,and i bet occasionally they do get to manhandle some very attractive girls,as a man,it must be hard to not get sexual thoughts.Recently,i had my penis handled by 2 nurses for a certain procedure i had to have,and despite being slightly discomforting,i did find myself just starting to feel an erection developing.We have no control,and luckily it subsided.Im sure younger men in similar situations probably do get lumpy.

I had a Male OBGYN for my entire pregnancy, and nothing was ever weird or uncomfortable for me. If I had one more I'd go back and see him again cause he was a great doctor.

The person I delivered with was a woman and when it came down to the last few pushes before it was deemed I'd need an emergency c section she said "You need to get serious, you need to push your baby out." Like I had been serious the last 3 hours Inwas pushing. Needless to say I wish I would have had him instead.

I was married for 18 years and my wife always had a male OB/GYN.  She never felt strange about it.  In fact, we never even had a conversation about it, ever.  What a very odd topic of conversation.  The majority of them were men from 1980-1998, when I was married. 

Perhaps some people today are paranoid about misconduct?  Man, things are getting really weird.  What, do you think male gynecologists are perverts or what?  Think about what they see and what they have to do...and WHO they see.  God, give me a freaking break!

I'm reading maybe too much into the question - I know there's a strong perspective from ladies about where the need for medical attention overrides the embarrassment of the situation.   From a male perspective it's easy to think of a gynaecologist as somebody paid to ogle and fondle women all day, and let's face it - who wouldn't want to!  

Let's consider this though from a different perspective - step outside the fetish regime and just consider things from an everyday perspective.

Almost everybody in the medical profession is going to from time to time get a glimpse of the opposite sex. But they're also going to come across some difficult stuff to deal with - be it serious illness, people suffering life changing injuries and illnesses, cleaning up human waste in any of it's forms, dealing with death, grieving relatives, etc, etc...   It's one of the toughest jobs there is, and at many levels is grossly underpaid.

Add to that, it also takes a lot of training - in the UK typically three years to train as a nurse or a paramedic and more than double that for a basic doctor.  Something motivates people to go through that.  Now consider that you do have the mental capacity and the strength of character to fulfil all the studying and practice to be granted your doctorate, I'm guessing that in many cases doctors eventually become specialists based on where job openings lie - effectively just taking an opportunity which fulfils their career.

There are other threads current on the forum about jobs which ally with having a wet fetish, but in no way can I imagine that anyone would put themselves through so many years of training, so many long hours and so much hard work just because they want to get hands on in a girl's pants.  Really?

We're not talking about a teenage kid getting a job as a pool lifeguard so he can see girls in bikinis, we're not talking about being a plumber or cleaner working in ladies' bathrooms. The opening question was about male doctors being gynaecologists and personally I think the sexual motivation is way down the priority list.  I know there have been law cases in the press over doctors abusing their power, but the vast majority of the medical profession are there for exactly the right and best reasons - after all every doctor swears by the Hippocratic oath. 

So - ladies, for you it's a personal choice.  Given the humiliation of being exposed, allowing somebody to intimately examine you and discuss medical problems you may be facing, is having a man doing that just one step too far?
