steve25805 126,015
It is understandable for guys to be reluctant to pee outside in a society where you can be jailed and treated like a sex offender for the rest of your life because of it. Which is of course both utterly draconian and utterly ridiculous. But if that is the sad reality guys face the risk of if caught, then clearly they are only ever going to do it if it is a very last resort. I wouldn't want to risk prison or being labelled a sex offender just for taking a piss either. Fortunately here in the UK, urinating in public is only treated as the very minor crime that it is and you risk no more than a small fine at worst. So guys generally - especially after a few drinks - tend not to be too shy about peeing in public. It is still the case here that they are less shy about it than the ladies, whom you see doing it much less often. Though it is always awesome when you spot a lady doing it. 4 Link to post

I think here in the U.S. some of the ridiculous laws passed in recent years have given many grown men hesitation, since some of the penalties certainly don't match the crime. But even at home and around the neighborhood where no one outside of friends or family is apt to see them, I've noticed that it often doesn't even seem to occur to many young men and boys that could or should pee outdoors. While laws seem to have become more serious and guys less bold, I've noticed the opposite among women, especially moms, who may not do so themselves, but often expect the guys will. 1 Link to post
Mr. Whizz 5,898
Yeah I can understand for the most part why men have been forced to stop. Sex culture in general is America is much less accepted, mostly because of a high Christian population (don’t mean to dis on religion, but it’s true that is has way more power over government than it should). With a repressed sex culture, it can make some people turn to less..... legal options to get their rocks off (that and Americans ignores their mental health crisis). By saying that you can’t piss in public is illegal it eliminates the excuse of having a cock out in public, making women who are afraid of aggressive sexual behavior feel more comfortable. Women in America are far less comfortable pissing in public because they feel at risk. Women in America are also less likely to post sexual images somewhere, not including private messages. The bottom line is this: a lot of things fuel a repressed sexual culture, which causes men (especially ones with mental issues) to do less legal things to or in view of women without their consent, which eliminates public peeing and creates a world where women are uncomfortable watching men pee and are uncomfortable peeing where they can be seen by men. 1 Link to post

Popular Post Ms. Tito 2,396
I feel like I'm somewhere in between this divide. I'm a trans girl, and I like peeing outside, but I don't like being seen as "manly" just for doing so. I'm still shy about it as well, but if there's no bathroom around and I need to pee, why shouldn't I lift my skirt and take aim at a wall or a tree?? But then again I'm worried that I'll be made fun of or called a "fake woman," or "manly," or "a disgusting freak," ..... I have issues... 5 Link to post

Something something self-expression, repression, gender is complicated, mumble mumble. Dunno proper answer. I've met enough (cis-)guys who didn't grow up peeing outdoors and don't want to, and (cis-)girls who pee outside so willingly you start to suspect they enjoy it that "PEEING OUTDOORS IS A MANLY THING THAT GIRLS DON'T DO" gets yelled "objection!" at, and hauled out of the court with a vaudeville hook. Yes, that's a mixed metaphor and I don't care. It's still more convincing than Blue's "All Rise". I mean I think we all know you're exaggerating a bit about if there's no bathroom around, because it's not like you wouldn't pick a wall over a bathroom given the choice. (Me too). 1 1 Link to post

I don't know what to make of this, either. (Heard of shitposting? Well, this is doubtposting). From this, you'd sort of think/hope that somewhere that wasn't so sexually repressed - say, Sweden - would do better at avoiding/preventing abuse and assault, and... I'm not sure it does, judging by some of the controversy around Steig Larsson's novels. And good luck getting any clear answers about sexual behaviour, since, in the words of Gregory Kinsey, "Everybody lies". One effect of porn's increasing popularity might be that non-sexual nudity becomes more... inconceivable. (The obvious one: teens get their idea of what sex is/looks like from porn, with assorted bizarre effects). 2 Link to post

Sweets 4,517
I remember back in the 70’s and 80’s Men and boys would pee outside all the time. My brother would pee anywhere. When we went on trips we pulled over and my dad and his friend would pee on the side of the road. Same with my brother. I don’t ever remember my mom or her friend peeing on the side of the road. When my dad took me fishing he would tell me to go pee in the woods. I even remember my husband now when we first started date him and friends would be in the back yard all the time when grilling out That was the end of the 90’s. I haven’t seen him do that in years. All though he has admitted to me about peeing on the roof of building he working on if they don’t have cameras 1 1 Link to post
Dr.P 1,473
I grew up in the Midwestern US, in the previous century. Guys all peed outside, without hesitation, or problems. There were no real penalties, except possible embarrassment, if a girl or woman happened to see us. But the modern world has changed all of that, as beachmom has said. First of all, there is strong social disapproval, the "war on men," which she describes. Second, there are very serious potential legal problems, in many locations, as noted by Sweets, among others. Men can be jailed, and branded as sex offenders, for life, for taking a leak, in a public place. And third, with the ubiquity of surveillance cameras, in today's world, men can be caught on tape, and subjected to those same legal penalties. So the freedom to pee anywhere is just not worth the risk, anymore, in my view. 1 Link to post

Yeah I get it. It feels derogatory. It's impossible to control how other people react. Standing to piss is definitely the easiest, most convenient, and probably the most comfortable way to piss in public, but is is also the most vulnerable to others judging you. Not just for transgender people but men an women too. 1 1 Link to post

I too have received some rather shocked looks while doing so, but when I need go, I go and it's much easier standing. certainly if I had the benefit of a penis, I'd never take a squat, regardless of what anyone thinks. 1 1 Link to post
