Blackie knows I never endorsed the degree of self-love she has… it's too small!!! She should love herself more!! She deserves that!!!

Yes she sure does. She is building her self love and confidence a little more each day

We must help her

True love is NOT lip-service

We are shaking her out of her fears

Because we do not want to protect her, but to show the world she got balls of solid rock

I’d say D, E, and H

D) socializing both on line and in person always helps me.

E) Music also always helps.   I play a few instruments (poorly😂) but a little bit of playing a piano or harmonica really seems to help.

H) Other.  This one may not be as healthy.    I’m a workaholic.  When things get tough, I’ll work.  But I do enjoy my work, and extra cash flow is always nice.  Sometimes, though, I think I carry it too far.

One thing I tend to do that’s more healthy, is simply thought.   I sincerely believe in the power of positive thought and positive, confident attitudes.  It’s not always easy, but I can’t think of a single time it hasn’t worked when I was able to achieve it properly.

I forgot to mention guns and training like @speedy3471   I enjoy building rifles and training with them.   My wife and I used to compete in “run and gun” and three gun competitions.  I’d like to start again some day.  Sometimes there’s nothing as relaxing as sending a lot of lead down range and “killing” an army of old bowling pins. 😂

You probably wouldn’t think so if you heard it.  😂😂😂😂.   When I was in grade school, you could attend a much better school if you chose an art to study.  My family were all bible thumping pentecostals who played music in church.   I wasn’t allowed to not play at least one instrument.   I chose piano because everyone else played guitar.   I stuck with it through high school, but years of “the cowboy lifestyle” getting my hands cut up and tangled between ropes, horses, and cattle has left most of my fingers broken and not always working properly.   Add to that a dark time in my life where fists flew daily and it took a toll on my hands

The harmonica is a fairly recent thing for me I haven’t been too serious about.   I LOVE traditional blues, and would love to play it, but honestly, I’ve just not worked at it enough or taken it seriously.

HI! I have a blog and I post about cyber bullying, disability, depression etc. I would like to ask people here how do they cope with stress/sadness?

A.) drinking

B.)Drugs

C.)shopping

D.)socializing

E.)listening to music

F.) creating something (writing, art, creating music etc)

G.) Porn

H.) Other (please explain)

Question 2: Has anyone (stranger, family member, friend) insulted you because of how you cope with stress/sadness?

I will not post your usernames on my blog, i just want a general idea how what people use to cope with life when it gets difficult and how outside sources have reacted to it.

For me, I usually listen to music or get lost drawing/ writing.

I've never been directly insulted but my family and friends have judged it because I isolate myself when I'm stressed or sad.

I am outcasted even currently by my family for my beliefs

That is so very sad. Why cannot people accept others - especially their own kin - for who they are, as most of us on this forum do?

But you have also said you were badly treated as a child by your family, so possibly have feelings of love/hate? All mixed in?  Are you hurt by their rejection whilst at the same time angry at what they did to you as a kid?

I know a little about love/hate relationships. It was often that way between my father and I who was often abusive towards me.

But know that you are loved here by the hardcore of members. We hope you never leave but if you ever do, we hope you keep in touch. We love you for who you are and can see the worth in you.

I'd bet a dime to a dollar that you are a better person - certainly a less negatively judgemental one - than most of your family.

Do you mind if I ask a question? No need to answer if this is too private or painful. But is your family religious? Because if so, it would explain a lot.

Dealing with stress

1:  Breathing exercises to stop or forestall anxiety attacks.

2:  Reading old and familiar novels that I can lose myself in.

3:  Walking in the park or in suburban streets.

Dealing with sadness

1: Cleaning or tidying the house

2: Working in the garden,  particularly doing "mindless" but tiring tasks like weeding.

Your list was interesting.   When I am stressed I cannot socialize because it just adds more to the stress.   Drugs, drinking and music don't  much help.  I can't concentrate on the music when my mind is racing.  Creating something I have not tried.

I am going to have to deal with a lot of sadness tomorrow.  Australia just re-elected our vile, disgusting Tory government, and we face three more years under their boot heel.  My heart goes out to those who will be driven to suicide by the cruelty and bullying of their foul regime.
