By todays standards your MOBO is ancient. They get progressively better each year and are now on generation 8 cores and MOBO's. W10 installs new system updates but ignores hardware firmware. So it most likely is that you're running out of date drivers. It could also be that your MOBO is still running USB1.0, which wont supply enough power to USB 3.0 devices. USB 2.0 is fine although transfer speeds will be affected.

Then it sounds as though you don't have the correct USB hub drivers installed on your Windows 10 machine. Or that theres a hardware error within the ports themselves. I have no idea how old your machine is, but did you install any driver utilities from your MOBO supplier? Usually the machine drivers get downloaded automatically through that, or alternatively there should've been an installation disc supplied with your MOBO that had USB drivers on it.

I'm not sure who is giving you your information but thats utterly and completely bogus...if the USB HDD is a standard 3.5 inch laptop hard drive then ANY USB slot on a desktop/ laptop should power the drive for it to be talking to the machine, if its an older style desktop HDD then you will need to plug it into mains AND a USB port for it to talk to the machine...if you are attempting to attach it to your machine with an external USB hub with more than 4 extra USB ports on it then the hub itself will need to have mains power connected to it so the desktop/laptop and the HDD have enough power t

OK I may have spoken too soon. As soon as i came back to the site it asked me to log back in even though id previously chosen keep me logged in... OK Take the word 'work' out of the equation. Because im pretty sure most of us check the forum on tablets or mobiles in public...

It was happening to me earlier when the site was reloading on the new server. After every topic i was clicking on it was forgetting i was already signed in to the site and making me sign back in again to reply to others comments. Since the site has reloaded though it doesnt seem to be happening. As a side note to this, is there anyway we could make the forum name a bit more work/public place friendly? Peefans in white against a yellow background is very obvious to those who might catch a glimpse at a screen/mobile...

Yep everything seems to be back to normal now. In response to your post about the video gallery too...i would lose it, i personally never had any plans to subscribe to it and came to use the site just for the forum. Im also encountering an issue where the site isnt keeping me logged in after each topic i click on either.

For me the forums formatting either hasnt yet loaded, or is not available at all. What im getting is just blank white screens and pages with no images or formatting as per the previous server...

and yet there was no coverage of this from anywhere in the UK...the outlets were more bothered about the Autumn Statement and the story of Jo Cox's murder...there has to be a way to prevent this from happening surely...i refuse to believe that the government are doing it 'for our best interests' because frankly this is a serious impeachment of my personal life, however if we do the same to the government its a criminal offence (Julian Assange, Ed Snowden etc), how dare the government dictate what i can and cannot watch/like in my life, this is meant to be a free country yet our basic liberties

So tonight i received some news from my Doctor that was pretty surprising to hear. After a fairly long bout of various gastro illness, and liver irritation and inflammation due to my weight and other things, it turns out i might have celiac or crohn's disease... The Doctors have referred me to the liver and gastro specialists at a hospital where they will follow this up to see what the irritation is. Its a result of a stool sample showing that the inflammation im getting is caused by either of the two diseases, but they cant determine which without further investigation... Right now

Steve didnt you just ban and push away a ''troll'' who disagreed with you on various things in this forum? If anything its you thats abused your mod privileges on the forum. But Wetman perhaps did not approach this particular scenario/thread in the best manner.

I realise the intentions of the mods/admin were good and honest, but perhaps instead of an outright ban a polite catch up message would have been more appropriate? "Hey User, I'm the mod here and I'm just wanting to check that you're ok since your last public post about departing the site for a while.
