In the early days we used to have a thumbs down button. And a few members were forever using it to be negative about something just because they didn't like it, whilst we at one point had a problem with a troll who was disliking every single post from a member he had an issue with. This is the problem. Such a button could be used for negative judgementalism, thereby circumventing our forum rules about that. In worst cases it can be used for trolling. If someone is breaking the rules or just being obnoxious, just report it and the first mod or admin who comes online will check it out.

You are quite right. Thanks for your correction. the 50,000+ excess deaths make more statistical sense now with current infection rates. Appalling though that still is.

One thing I didn't get right. Based upon the death rates in China, I said that if only one in five of us in the UK caught it we could see 27,000 deaths. But currently there appear to be over 50,000 excess deaths, yet far fewer than one in five of us have as yet caught it - unless many more have been infected than we know about. This suggests - for whatever reason - a death rate far higher than the one that was reported in China.
