Personally, I love to wear skirts when peeing outside because it’s so easy to squat down and cover my pussy while still peeing. All I have to do is pull the crotch of my panties aside and let it lose all over the ground.

I definitely prefer skirts too, although I tend to pull down my underwear instead of pulling them to one side (I've never really done that). One benefit of a skirt is how quickly you can get out of there if you are about to get caught. It's so much easier when you can just pull up your underwear and act normal, rather than awkwardly pulling up your jeans before they spot you!

Definitely! It’s even easier when pulling my panties to the side. I was at a music festival once and was in line for the porta potty’s, the line was so long and filled with so many desperate woman just like me and I knew it would take forever, so I casually walked behind the porta potty’s, squatted down, lifted my skirt up, pulled my panties to the side and let it release all over the parched ground 😆 and just as I started, I let go of my panties and walked away like nothing happened!

But, sometimes, it's "commando" underneath, much more practical and sexy (at least by my standards) than having to pull panties to the side while squatting.

I rarely wear jeans anyway, so skirts and dresses for me. I also go commando alot, so  peeing outdoors isnt ever the problem. But on the occasions I am wearing panties, I prefer pushing them to the side instead of pulling them down.

I agree, but sometimes if I wear panties under a short skirt, and the situation is favorable, I don't dislike pissing through 'em while standing.

I suppose you don't mind the feeling of wet clothes then? But for me wet panties sticking to me, gives me the ick. 😂 I once took it off and binned it and went commando for the night because I drunk peed through them (rather forgot to take it off while squatting). Sure I can relate to that kind of problem! but at times I do like the feeling of slightly wet crotch... for example, I usually piss while dancing in my favorite Disco-Club, and there I'm not always commando...

I'm male, but can answer this on behalf of my wife. She's not really an avid outdoor pisser, but will occasionally pop a squat during a hike if the need arises. For that type of activity, she generally wears leggings (with underwear).

She pulls them down, squats, does her thing, does a light shake, and quickly pulls them back up.

My ex wife never wore underwear. I don't think she even owned a pair. So whether she wore jeans, leggings or dress/skirt, she was always commando underneath. 

Contrary to my wife, my ex wife peed outside often. She wasn't usually super obvious about it, but also didn't really care if someone saw her. If she was wearing pants (jeans, leggings, etc.), she would generally pull them to her knees and pop a quick squat. If she was wearing a skirt, sometimes she would stand.

I certainly agree a skirt or dress is easiest. But I also don’t mind pulling down leggings or loose pants to squat. I’m not as much of a fan of needing to undo a belt and jeans and untuck a shirt, but if I need to pee it won’t stop me.

I have to ask the somewhat obvious question, does keeping the panties on and peeing through them provide any benefits other than being less noticable that you are peeing?  For example do they help direct the stream downward away from the front of the skirt?  Do they make it quieter?  Do they keep your thighs drier?

I’m not OP, but in my experience the main benefit would be privacy, either needing to be discreet or peeing openly but without exposing myself indecently. Of course, there’s the secondary benefit of it feeling quite nice also.

Not so obvious as a question, mind you!

To answer, I'd say that in my case the main reason why I keep 'em on while pissing is to act as discreetly as possible.

I'd say that's not an easier task to direct the stream while standing and moving if I'm wearing panties, quite the contrary.

But, since I usually release very small spurts in a slow succession, they probably help me to go unnoticed and avoid major splashing.

Same, I love wearing loose shorts which I can pull to the side to pee.
