Try to imagine being in the shoes of the participants in the magazine, male and female. I would have thought that they followed strict hygiene rules at the start of the photo-shoot, but there's no hiding behind the piss flying everywhere from both females and males. As I have observed, no plastic sheeting to protect floors or furniture in the studios. Four of our senses; smell, taste, touch and hearing are obviously negated by looking at these magazines, one can only imagine when all five are fully engaged for the models on the set.

Sex Bizarre Twenty.

 

The last issue of 1977, is printed with the usual dust cover absent from some of the scans available on the internet. For me the dust cover is an integral part of the mystique, as I am told that here in the UK, it was still illegal to distribute, sell and consume hard-core pornography. The dust cover offered a metaphorical barrier for the censors, but also a form of excitement and anticipation for the contents within. The story, called ‘Piss Champion’ is a return to a heterosexual romp as the participants are laid semi-naked in their undies from the off. Sex Bizarre was the first pee magazine I saw as well, probably in Amsterdam. I never got tired of it and, in fact, I don't think I've ever seen a piss magazine that gets anywhere close to its standard. The thing I liked - and still like - about Sex Bizarre is that the pictures were rarely, if ever, about domination or sadism. The models at least gave the impression of enjoying their kinky fun and I'm pretty sure a lot of them did.

greedyneedygirl: The careful analysis and background in this thread on 'Sex Bizarre' is both sexy (very!) and informative. I learned a lot from you about the history of the mag. I can't stay away from this thread.

I used to buy 'Sex Bizarre' whenever I was in a country where it was legal, mostly in the 1990s. I remember my acute embarrassment - I was really trembling at times - when I took it to the counter and bought it. Even in a sex shop, it felt especially shameful to be buying a piss mag., even more so when a woman was behind the counter. But the shame was delicious, of course. 

I realize that your interest in 'Sex Bizarre' has a very particular focus - the first twenty issues, isn't? - but I'd love to read more of the same from you. I'd also be fascinated to read detailed descriptions of your personal reactions as you leaf through the pages, if you feel able to share them. Very few people seem willing to - or capable of - writing in detail about porn. You're obviously a glorious exception. Thank you again.

The initial intention was to review those published from c.1970 to 1980, a decade in which I believe the magazine was at its most innovative and of course the use of relatively 'natural' looking models.

I totally agree with this view.   For me, pee sex has always been about fun and friendly intimacy.  I have never associated it with humiliation or dom/sub activities.  From the posts I have read on this forum,  I think that a great many of our members feel the same way.  Definitely one of the best things about Sex Bizarre was this sense of mutual enjoyment in almost all of their stories.

Sex Bizarre Twenty One

In April 1978 the Theander Brothers must have been confident enough to release Issue 21 with the boast that Sex Bizarre is the ‘World Famous Wet Sex Magazine’, emblazoned in bold type on the front cover. This was a game change in pornography with all of the Color Climax Titles being re-vamped with bolder photography, more pages and new features. In this issue they introduced an ‘album’ of supposedly amateur, vintage photographs submitted by readers. Most of the images in the album are black and white and for the more discerning consumer of pee porn will recognise the source of the images. The Corporation did cover all aspects of sexuality, some regarded as taboo, even today and not worth discussing here. But one magazine, ‘Erotica Grotesque’, did cover pissing, perhaps they were inundated with people submitting photographs, many of which have appeared in this forum.

 

As for the main story, again the sets seem to be more genuine, in this case an apartment fully furnished with the usual grouping of males and females, gathering for a social event. Much of the action in the early stages takes place in a fully clothed state, one of the women holds herself as if she is dying for a pee. One of the men offers her a beer glass and she fills it to the brim. The act triggers the action, as clothing is removed and there is the usual combination of peeing and fucking. What is noticeable is the blonde, (featured on the cover) who appears to relish the taste of piss, she has some wonderful facial expressions throughout, lovingly captured by the Peter Theander’s professional camerawork. The men are very competent at delivering a stream with power and she often seems to be overwhelmed by the strength of the streams. Then there is the Photo Album series, (sadly ditched in future issues), I was drawn to one image of a woman squatting over a chamber pot, her labia pinned back by a contraption to allow for the view of the urethra.

 

The second story ‘Pissing Prostitute’ is a curious one. Many men tell me that they have sated their pee fetish with a prostitute, either picking one up on the street, working from a house or flat or within a so-called massage parlour. The second story features two regular models who featured in Sex Bizarre 9, and the resulting film ‘Bizarre Tastes’. The issue and film feature one of the taboos aforementioned. However the idea of paying for pee pleasures is highlighted in this final story of this excellent issue.

We proceed in earnest through the quarterly releases of Sex Bizarre magazine as it evolves into the high gloss magazine so redolent of the 1970’s and 80’s. However, since the previous issue had two stories and the introduction of the Bizarre Album, it seems that my scanned version of Issue 22 only has a single story. ‘Jane’s Juicy Party’ starts with the party host reminiscing about the whole event. There are two stories in this 1978 issue, unfortunately the copy I have lacks the text and titles, so I have had to improvise. Having said that, the first story has a familiar face who seems to feature in extreme fetishes and lesbian stories. This one starts with what could be New Years Eve Party with all of the signifiers of a celebratory evening. The first publication in 1979 includes three stories, the first being a showcase piece from one of the regular models featured in previous issues.
