Cod and chips anyone?

My German teacher always used to say that we would be better at German grammar if we would go and learn some Latin first. As far as I know no-one took him up on that. 😄

I'm not conversationally fluent in any other language, but I can speak a little bit of French, a bit more German, and some Thai. I can also read and write Thai, but only very slowly. (I'm too slow to read road signs from a moving car.) The French and German I learned in high school, fifty years ago. I learned Thai more recently, about seven years ago, because it's my favorite local holiday destination. Wow Sophie. You could have been describing my own life there, especially the years when I was in high school. I was really shy and self-conscious, scared to express an opinion about anything in case it caused trouble. It took a lot of life experience to change that.

Seems like a better choice than portaloos. At least you are breathing fresh air, instead of being cooped up in a stinky box with an equally dirty floor. Probably easy to use in a skirt, but a real problem if you are wearing jeans, slacks or a jumpsuit. The comments thread is interesting, with many women saying that they have had nightmares that featured this kind of toilet.

Is your contact planning to publish on the subject? I would be fascinated to read that history.
