Just letting you all know that my router is fucked and am awaiting a new one. My laptop will not connect with the internet at all, but an ancient kindle tablet still seems to work _ sort of. But it is hard work. So no pics or much. posting until I am fully back in action.  The bad news is I am waiting on Virgin whose service is often poor and unreliable. I am regretting being one of those Neanderthals without a smart phone right now.

We're not going anywhere, don't worry, Steve. 😉

In regards to smarties... err.. smawt-foams... SMART-PHONES, darn it!... :
I had to get one once I started GeoCaching, currently the main function I use it for is as a WalkMan (that statement dates me, hu? 😉 Could have said "iPod", but I am WAY older :P)

Mostly for podcasts, interviews, audio-plays or -books, but also music of course.

Other then that: I browse news during lunch break or in the tram... and sometimes WhatsApp.
Thats it.

The only social media I partake in is You Tube, and I do that from home.

For me the phone is just another tool.

If you really wanna get one, make sure to not get it from your phone company.
I had a colleague once how lost ALL communication because something went wrong with the billing... so they cut him of.
He had no phone, no internet, no mobile phone - nothing.

Lesson learned - don't put all of your eggs in one basket. 🙂

And think twice about getting Apple; watch Louis Rossmann (aka Rossmann repair group) if you wanna know more!
(I know their products are not bad per se, but the company itself is a different story... see above.)

I keep the fingers crossed for you getting a new router. 😉

Well the problem turned out to be my laptop. I checked it on other peoples wifi and still no connection.

All it turned out to be was something had switched itself off. A relative who is a bit of a computer whizz went into advanced settings and had it working in literally 60 seconds, lol

I always swore I would never be one of those people who let their kids overtake them with computer and tech knowledge, but guess what? My daughter now sorts out issues on our phones and iPads in no time that have had my wife and I flummoxed.   Glad you are back on line.

Yes, I remember the days when I was young back when VCRs were the new fangled thing. I was forever showing older relatives how to use the damned things when it seemed so easy to me. I never understood what was so difficult about it. Now I sometimes feel like one of those older relatives without a clue, lol.

I was photographing an event a couple of weeks ago and working closely with the organisers' social media specialists.

Now, my artform is still photography and I do it well - capturing the atmosphere of the event as a glorious colourful moment in time.  The skill of the performers, the architecture and ambience of the venue and the joy of the crowd. All frozen at exactly the right moment.  I get a huge amount of kudos for my work and I know I'm delivering what they want.

But at the same time, chatting to them I understand what their next generation of subscribers want - quick, snappy video bites for the more recent media channels. Just a few seconds they'll assemble into a flashy, spontaneous stream.   Channels I've heard of, but never looked into (and whose names are auto filtered here lol).  And to be honest during the event, I was adapting - capturing video snippets for them as well as lasting memories.

So yes - change is the one certainty in life, the thing that faces us all.  The future's bright as the advert used to say, even if it's not my future.   Adapt or watch it pass by (that's not a dig BTW - either solution is perfectly valid and personal choice).

With just a hint at the return of my old humour, what with your photographic skills and all, you, me and Sophie could make a great team. I could supply the venue with living room and carpet, Sophie could provide the performance in the form of a carpet christening squat - all done in the best possible taste of course -, and you could take the photos.

And voila, a great piece of performance art to add to your portfolio. For your personal collection only of course, lol.

Well - I guarantee at least two sides of that perfect triangle would be very committed to the assignment.   Here's hoping for three out of three.
