Thanks for your comments Sally, but I'd like to disagree slightly on one point. It's just not necessary to scrub meticulously. I used to think so when I was a teenager but it lead to a small medical problem! My doctor reminded me that, as everywhere else on our bodies, the skin there constantly sloughs off the surface, and micro-organisms are always present. The member generally takes good care of itself he said, but if uncircumcised, the dead skin -will- accumulate under the foreskin, and bacteria will build up. Pull the skin back, clean with moderately hot water while showering. Soap isn't usually needed. In my case, it made the situation worse.

I've followed his advise and never had any problems. Hoping I'm not sharing too much here!:wink:
