Uh Oh! Can my employer tell I was on Peefans?

Last night, a few minutes after logging in to Peefans, I noticed that little circle in the upper right corner of my screen with my first initial in it.

I was aghast to discover that I did not log out of my employee gmail google account.

I am not too familiar with the detailed elements of my account, but i checked it out thoroughly to see if there was any evidence of Peefans.

I did not find any, but I am still nervous.

Can they find out what sites you visit when not logged off?

I know they could see u tube videos I watched, but what else can they discover?

Even on a corporate account you’re in control of the data. They cannot see what sites you have logged into unless they reset your password and access it as you (illegal in many jurisdictions)

You can go to https://myactivity.google.com and view things like site and search history but you can also delete entries from there or turn it off completely

Don’t panic 🙂

I guess it varies from organisation to organisation - the company I work for, I'm absolutely sure would block the site at the first attempt to log in and would flag up my indiscretion. When I'm in the office my net access is through their system, and when at home my sole internet connection is point-to-point with their system too so either way they'd have me.

But in the case where your company's network has let you access the site then as said you should be fine just clearing your browsing history.

The key point is, if they were investigating you for something then they probably would be interested in such searches - but whilst you're just a fish in the pond, then apart from the automated checks (as above) then they're not going to look at everyone's browsing history.  As you say 'last night' I guess that is out of work's hours and as long as there's no ruling against using company IT for personal browsing then they're not going to want to wade through every person's eBay / Facebook / Instagram....  browsing history.  And anyway 'Peefans' isn't as obvious a NSFW as say Pornhub.

When I went through the activity page, I did not see any place that said " search history" but I did see "you tube history". I was about to delete the option for "view you tube history", but it warned me that access to other functions or content might be limited if I turn it off, so i decided not to.

There was a benign you tube video in my history that was related to my work function.

I am guessing that the only problem would be if I played a perverse you tube video, while signed in.

I wonder what would happen if I played a video from any pee sites that were not you tube while signed in?

Can they only see you tube video history?

I am glad I caught the little circle before I played any videos, just in case.

My  employer, like many, has an internet policy that forbids any online activity likely to bring the employer into disrepute.

I have long realised that for many, being active on a forum such as this might come under that category.

I for that reason never identify my employer here, nor identify myself.

I only have to access the internet in work for training purposes and I have a work email address for that entirely separate from my own.

I try to make sure the world of work and my life on this forum never mix.

Though in the past I did accidentally send a pee porn pic to a work colleague via facebook messenger. She was good about it though and promised not to say anything to anyone and was as good as her word. She no longer works with me but we have become firm friends, probably the weirdest way for a friendship to form.
