Takashi96 1,076
I'm still trying to figure out the etiquette on this site. I have been going through all the old posts since joining earlier this month. When I'm inspired I respond with emojis or sometimes with comments. Is that considered unusual if the post is a few years old? Link to post

I do see some people following, or asking questions of, people who haven't visited the site for months or years and think that's a bit weird though. 1 Link to post

Because I don't notice until after I've asked the question. 1 1 Link to post

Popular Post gldenwetgoose 21,487
If you hover your mouse over, or tap the name of the user on your mobile it will pop up their profile summary. That way you can see if they’re a current user or long gone, before asking a question. Nothing at all wrong with raising topics back from the dead especially when it’s to bring great content to a new audience. I’d be a little cautious on firing questions in to members completely out of the blue when it’s an old post, and also be aware if it’s a topic that’s been covered to death. 3 2 Link to post

I very much appreciate your help. Speaking of mobiles, mine has a garbage touch screen. And it has this tendency to send me to user's profiles when I'm just trying to scroll. Then the activity thing announces that I'm visiting their profile and I feel like a stalker. I can't wait till I have a better handle on this site. Link to post
gldenwetgoose 21,487
I know what you mean @Takashi96 - I’m away for the weekend so browsing on my mobile. I much prefer a desktop browser where I can see more than one thing at a time - for example having the bottom corner live-chat pop up visible without it being the whole screen. But hey, at least I can still be here from the middle of a field. 1 Link to post

Dr.P 1,473
I don't think it's weird, at all. I do it all the time, and am often surprised and pleased at the fascinating topics which are resurrected by my comments and questions. And I am more than delighted when my own vintage posts are given new life, bringing back pleasant memories. I use a desktop with a MS "ergonomic" keyboard, a Kensington trackball, and a medium size LCD monitor. 1 Link to post

But hey, at least I can still be here from the middle of a field. I don't even own a smart phone and have always used a laptop for internet access. It suits me much better than a phone when it comes to porn because the laptop screen is much larger than any phone. And I don't really want to be accessing porn away from home anyway. As for the OP topic of posting in old threads, if it is on topic I mostly see it as a good thing. It can often serve to resurrect an older discussion and bring it to new members. As has been stated already though, asking a question of someone who posted something a couple of years ago might well be a bit fruitless unless you know the member is still active, because people come and go all the time. 2 Link to post
