I just wanted to share my experience from last year when I went camping with my family. We were in one of the sites that was very close to the entrance of the campground, and it was not a very private area. There were people on either side of us, a parking lot that you could see our tents from, and one side of our site was about 50 or so feet from the main road to get to the campground from the rest of the park, with nothing but grass and a few trees here and there between it and us.

It was around 1 AM or so that I woke up one night needing to pee very badly. The restrooms were a distance away, and not only would I not have made it before peeing myself, I also did not want to walk that distance in the dark. I frequently practiced camping (like every summer or so) with my friends for a while, and while there was a toilet block available on the site, more often than not it was quite far away from our ground. At night, maybe the others went all the way to the toilets but I couldn't be assed to do it. Honestly I think outdoor peeing is one of the best parts of camping haha

Some people say they need a porta-potty but I'm in the habit of not peeing in the proper bathroom during the outdoor activities. When I have a urge to pee, I don't so much as check where the bathroom is. I can pee everywhere in the campsite, in the bushes, in a flower field, in the forest, on the tree-shaded trails, into the creek, you name it, I pee on it lol

This is absolutely the best and correct approach to pissing whilst camping - both actively avoiding the actual toilets and taking full advantage of being able to just go where you please outdoors!

I’m actually going camping for the first time in years next summer for the F1 here in Britain.. I don’t know what the vibe will be like regarding non use of the toilets for pissing, but having been to music festivals in the past where just going in the bushes etc is fairly commonplace, I’m of course hoping it’s like that, and will be doing my best to try and help encourage such an environment where I can.. 😉
