Stranded in Pee Paradise

My friends and I had been looking forward to this summer for months. In celebration of our finished classes and the beginning of summer we were going to spend two weeks on a booze cruise, partying and living our best lives.

It was three days in, the ship had been on the open pacific sea for the last one and a half days and I had gone to the lower deck to get a refill on my drink, when I heard a loud crash and the ship started tilting and waves began rocking the boat violently.

I grabbed onto a railing as tightly as I could as the waves continued to slam against the ship and saw the ship beginning to crumble and tear apart.

Looking around, I saw other passengers getting sucked under the waves or dragged along the deck, unable to fight the forces unleashed by the sea tearing apart the massive ship.

Suddenly, a huge wave crashed into the side of the ship which caused me to lose my grip and sent me flying into the ocean.

As I sank, I looked around to see if I could see any survivors, but couldn't make out anyone in the chaos.

Then the water enveloped me and I blacked out.

I don't know how long I was out for, but I finally awoke on the sandy shore of an island. I had a headache and was covered in bruises, scrapes, and cuts. I also felt very nauseous and dizzy. Looking down on myself, I saw myself still wearing the white bikini I had bought in anticipation to the cruise because I'd thought that it complimented my tanned skin very well. My feet however, were naked, I seemed to have lost my sneakers in the water.

As I got to my feet, I felt very light headed and fell back to the sand.

Groggily, I stood up and scoped my surroundings.

I was standing on a sandy beach that was merging into a palm forest to my left, the endless sea to my right, no signs of any other life except for the birds that flew above me and made chattering noises that sounded like they were laughing about me.

"Hello?" I called out weakly, hoping someone would answer.

But no one answered.

"Help!" I shouted again, louder this time.

But still, nobody answered.

After yelling, screaming and crying for some minutes, I just lay down on the sand, exhausted and at a loss as to what to do.

It felt like I must have been there for hours before the realisation finally set in.

This was real.

It was not a bad dream I could just wake up from.

Quite contrarily, my throat was parched and my stomach was growling. How long had it been since I ate something? I didn't know. But I needed to get up now.

It was probably around noon, I figured from the sun ruthlessly burning down on me.

Noticing a small cave near the sea, I couldn't help but be intrigued by it, despite my precarious situation and I made my way towards it.

The cave was dark and damp. Its walls were made of sand and rocks and the floor was covered in sand and pebbles.

"Well at least I am out of the sun now" I thought, walking further inside. The cave was not very big but at at the deepest end, I found a pool of water. It appeared at least drinkable, though not really like a permanent drinking solution.

I had no time to wonder why there was drinkable water in a cave next to the sea, as I desperately knelt down beside it and cupped my hands together, bringing the cool water up to my mouth. It felt cool and refreshing but with a clear hint of dirt. Still, it managed to clear my head a bit and my headache was starting to fade.

I agreed. That really was a scary thought.

"Hey, come check this out!"

I walked over to her, and saw her standing next to a large tree trunk.

It was a difficult climb, and we often had to wade through the shallow parts of the river, the water rushing past our legs.

"This is harder than I thought," Hannah panted, after a while.

"Yeah," I agreed.

The sky was starting to darken, and the air was getting cooler.

"Are you cold?" I asked.

"A bit," she replied.

The next morning, I awoke to the sound of something splashing on the ground.

"My parents have been pretty relaxed and we've actually done a few camping trips, though not really out in the wild."

"Well, we're both getting the full package now," Hannah laughed.

As we reached the beach, we both sighed in relief.

"It feels good to be back," Hannah said.

"Yeah, this is much more comfortable than the cave," I replied, grinning.

We walked along the beach, both of us enjoying the feeling of the sand under our feet.

"I think we should split up to get the shelter and exploration done today," Hannah said, after a while.

"Yeah, makes sense" I nodded.

"I'll go explore down south, I think I saw the river entering the ocean down there. And you can go north, try to gather some sticks and leaves for a shelter and maybe a fishing rod?"

"Yeah fishing is a great idea." I said. "Though we're going to need some kind of bait too."

"Right, but some worms or something will do fine." Hannah answered.

"Ew, yeah I'm not looking forward to catching them," I laughed.

"Okay, see you in a few hours then," she said, giving me a hug.

"Bye," I replied, smiling.

I watched as she walked down the beach, her hips swaying.
