Laundry day

This morning I read a wonderful post from @Sophie that reminded me of a situation with myself yesterday. I was so busy that until I read hers it had completely slipped my mind!  

I was working from home yesterday, N was out at work and E was at nursery, so home alone. 

It was Friday and every Friday, I treat myself to breakfast out the house. As I dropped E off at nursery, I jumped back in the car to Starbucks! Yaaay large cappuccino to me… turned out it was on the house as I’m such a loyal customer, so I grabbed an orange juice as well. 

About 2 hours later, I was sitting at my desk cross-legged, waiting for the call I was on to finish.  Finally it was done! Downstairs! I could hear the familiar sound of the tumble drier coming to an end with our lovely towels. 

I ran downstairs and grabbed them out as the downstairs toilet is next to our utility room. 

Towels out and sitting on the edge of the table, I went into the toilet, and sat on the freezing cold seat.  The lovely sounds of my desperate pee filled the air, no holding back here as there was only me who could hear it. My stream was both hitting the water and off the porcelain together. As it was coming to an end, I reached over with my right hand to grab some toilet roll…. Nooooooo! My loud gasp and sharp intake of breath startled me. The holder was empty, nothing but an empty tube coming to the end of a spin after my hand had pulled down on it to cause a downward motion.  This was a pet-hate of mine, if you finish a roll…replace it.   Luckily for me, I was in the right place - we kept our downstairs toilet fully stoked in the cupboard.  Still sitting, bum firmly on the seat, I leaned over to my left and twisted my body using my right hand for balance pressing it firmly in the floor to get into the cupboard.  As I opened the door my eyes must have nearly popped out - lucky not so much Chrissy, as the cupboard was empty! 

“For the love of…” I said, partly trying to hide my frustration with a sarcastic laugh. Shopping day wasn’t until tomorrow!

I had done a big pee, so I really needed to wipe. To add to my dilemma I had new pants on, turquoise in colour with little diamantés set all over them, super cute.  I really didn’t want to just pull them up 😐 

I had a brainwave! - I stood up and headed out, as I became vertical, my pants and trousers fell straight down to my ankles. As I got to the other side of the door I reached for one of my freshly washed towels, grabbed it with one hand and shoved a fluffy soft corner between my legs towards my bum in one steady movement, the warmth of the tumble drier still very much there on the towel which felt awesome to heat me up! ☺️ 

I savoured that moment for longer than I should have, enjoying the heat, and the fact that I could keep my new pants dry! As I pulled the towel away I could see a small slither of damp just off the corner. Quickly, a large smile was upon my face as I brought the towel up towards my face, the smell of our fabric softener filling my nostrils.   I just held it there for a few seconds, my glasses slightly steamy, enjoying the last bit of warmth that was coming off the towel, smiling away knowing what I had just done to the fresh washing 😅

The moment ended as the sound of my phone could be heard upstairs. I bent down and pulled up my pants and trousers then throwing the towel into empty laundry basket the other side of the table.  Ka’ching bullseye! Good job!

Yup ... and ... *don't leave the last single sheet on top of the otherwise empty roll. One sheet left = it's finished!

Yes it is…. I’m so glad a man is on my side here…. Mine just looks at me as if one is enough…. Umm excuse me! 🤣🤣

Fantastic account, Chrissy! I had pretty much the exact same scenario last week but I had someone to fetch me a roll!

Good job on improvising with the towel, I bet it felt so much nicer than the toilet paper too.

Would have been hot to hang the towel on the rack- as a reminder of what you did.

Next step @Chrissy89 is next laundry day, to go for a wee and then clean up using a towel off the warm radiator, enjoying its warmth and softness, before popping it into the wash. 

Level above that is just to hold the towel against yourself whilst you wee…

Not being a great toilet-paper fan myself, I certainly agree that towels are a much better option... hehehe
