DoctorDoctor 1,383
As I travel around remote areas in the Northeastern USA by car, I have recently found many "waterless" urinals that don't flush. I am assuming that this is in an effort to save on water (or electricity, where wells and septic systems are used). Is there an equal fixture found in women's toilet facilities? Maybe a waterless female urinal or waterless toilet for peeing only? Seems odd to change out the fixtures to save water in men's urinals (when the urinals already consume far less water than toilets), but then leave normal toilets on the women's facilities. Can any women share there experiences with these water saving or waterless fixtures? Link to post
Moore007 446
At festivals I’ve seen these facilities called Missoir, it’s like those squat toilets in Asia but you can sit on a row next to each other and pee. I don’t know if they’re waterless… 1 Link to post

I see the men's waterless urinals at road-side rest stops and picnic areas, but now in more places like restaurants where water is available, but conservation efforts are underway. Link to post

Yes I’m sure they are temporary. I’ve also seen these waterless urinals. I guess the installation is both easier and less costly without water. Other than those urinals for women at festivals I’ve only seen one urinal for women here. Link to post

Damn, finally something equal for women to pee and it's fucking sexy too! They may be temporary for now, but give it time and people will acclimate to it and then it's everywhere. (I hope so) Can I ask at what festivals you encountered them? Here's a pic for whoever is interested. 2 1 Link to post

I don’t think it was hooked to the city sewer or was connected to any water. 1 Link to post
puddyls 26,201
i have never seen anything remotely similar with traditional toilets. Link to post
Alfresco 11,613
The men's waterless urinals work by having oil in the u bend trap underneath them so when you pee in them, the pee sinks through the oil and heads round the u bend to the drain. The oil never falls below the level of the u bend so stays where it is and makes a seal which keeps smells at bay. For this to work in the ladies toilets, it would have to be a dedicated facility for peeing with small bore outlet and with separate bin for tissue disposal. It would certainly be possible to do that, but it needs designers to come up with a suitable design and ladies to adapt to using separate facilities for peeing. All of that is possible but I haven't seen or heard of it in fixed locations. If anyone has found it then I'd be interested to know for sure. I can see it happening in future, but I think it will take some time before ladies accept the idea. For men it was a very simple change to the plumbing and no change to the users behaviour. Even were urinals were already installed they just had to turn off the water supply and add the oil to the trap. 2 Link to post

I’m sure I’d orgasm just from walking inside. The closest I’ve been to a female urinal was at a festival where lots of women peed on bushes and trees below a shelf. It was summer and warm temp outside. The smell of piss was just such a turn on. Link to post
