Summer Camp Leader Job Pt.1

While your story may be a work of fiction, it doesn't stray far from a few of my true experiences.

I've led several dozen mixed-gender dayhikes. My charges were all adults, post-college age to active seniors, and usually there were more women than men.

Now, I considered a very good leader. Before we set off, I gave them a description of the trail ahead, along with basic safety instruction. I also stressed to them the importance of good hydration, but also told them we'd be taking rest stops at least every couple hours.

Usually, that was frequent enough for most hikers. And, then there were some who seemed to be able to hold all day. But, occasionally there were a few who took my warning of dehydration maybe a bit too seriously. In particular I recall one late-twenties woman who seemed to be popping a squat every thirty minutes and towards the end of the day never even bothered stepping off the trail.

A great story I'd love to hear another version of it

Thanks. As probably some of you have noticed, I never did write a second part of this story (although I have written several new stories since). I had some ideas at the time I was writing this story and there was definitely a plan for a follow-up, but for one reason or another I never actually did the writing.

It may happen one day still. I can tell you Katherine definitely wasn't the only camp leader who had to take an emergency piss that summer.

@rochauthrowaway, enjoying your stories, let's see the next installment 🙂

Thanks. As I said above, I'm not really planning on writing a follow-up to this story any longer, although if a good idea pops into my head maybe I might still.

I am oddly picky with coming up with scenarios and I have a lot of ideas that I've basically scrapped over the years for one reason or another. The follow-up idea for this story was one that ended up in the scrap pile.

On a related note, I often actually find it quite difficult to come up with story ideas that feel workable. The whole "female character is desperate to piss, toilets are inaccessible or unacceptably dirty, and it's okay if the male protagonist watches" premise that is usually a part of my stories is really tricky to pull off in a way that doesn't feel totally implausible.

Thank you for your explanations @rochauthrowaway - they totally make sense!

I've noticed that in your stories, there is a tendency for some female lubrication to be visible towards the end, hinting at the situation not being all that painful to her. I thought that might give an excuse for a sequel. Maybe he can't always watch, but his fantasy could spin out the elements he can't see as she disappears for a while in the dark during a campfire, or him observing her not having been to the toilet between getting up and going swimming with the group, her face showing the bliss of letting the desperation behind her as soon as she gets into the water. Or him searching an excuse for staying close to her - to the point that she feels obliged to comment explicitly on what is about to happen. Or the group being on a hike or supervising the kids during a project out in the wild and her convincing a female colleague that it's ok to sneak away for a little privacy behind some bushes...

But of course it is your story, and I understand that with the high standards you set it is hard to come up with new credible situations!
