Carb0nBased 647
It's an interesting topic. There are certainly guys who do pee together, and who chat at the urinals. I also have heard that there are guys who masturbate together while watching porn, though I have never personally observed (much less done) that. So not all guys are shy about their bodies in front of all friends, but there are only a few pairs of friends who are close enough to be open with each other like it seems the average girl-girl friendship is. The video brings up the idea that some of this as to do with how competitive guys are, and I could definitely see how this could be part of it. It's not even just competitiveness, but lack of a certain ability engage and make peace with with the more vulnerable sides of life. It seems women to a significant degree over their shared vulnerability, whereas us guys bond over things we feel we are good at, associating being vulnerable with someone with relationships like mothering and long-term romance rather than a typical friendship. I'm curious, though, how much this varies from guy to guy. I was always a loner kid growing up, but I do think that some other boys, particularly those who were into roughhousing or whatever, were more relaxed around nudity and bodily stuff. It seems there's a big role of group expectations too--like I remember on some school camping trip in my teens one guy suggested that us guys shower nude, and had some people started just doing it, it's likely many of us would have joined in. However, it never happened, probably because everyone assumed there was someone else in the group who wasn't up for it. It's similar with peeing I think, like it's probably more awkward to ask a guy friend if it's ok to pee with him than to actually do it. What are other people's experiences here? In my experience, guys are more likely to pee together outside than in the bathroom, like, see someone else peeing against a wall & joining them. Even talking about masturbation’s been fairly thoroughly taboo, let alone doing it together, though teenage boys doing that has been something I feel I’ve heard rumours/claims about “some guys do that” forever. I think you’ve hit the nail on the head about vulnerability. I guess you could approach this competitively (how big? How far can you pee? How far can you cum?). The other aspect is wanting to be seen as strictly hetero at all costs… 1 Link to post

Pisuaria Health Ministry, Contact Tracing Department, Comrade! They have 1,000-line video recordings captured from hidden fittings in the ceiling, piped to a camera in a closet. The ones where guys don’t segue into fellatio or anal are of no interest, health-wise, but some people consider them… entertaining. More practically, this feels like the sort of thing which should have porn of it. Or could be role-played, though, I dunno, “pretend you’re not sexually interested in me” might be a bit… niche. F0rester 165
There are at most 3 male friends that I am comfortable continuing a conversation with at the urinals and that is only if the restroom is otherwise empty because I don't want to be that guy. Outdoors I and my friends are much more casual about following the lead of one another. 1 Link to post

gldenwetgoose 21,495
I can agree with them on some points, but a lot of gross generalisations. When guys are in a situation with strangers - like walking into a public bathroom for a pee, there's a general etiquette to leave a gap between you and the next person, just like if you came to park your car in a part full car park. Out of all the parking spaces in the place, you wouldn't park doorhandles to doorhandles with the one other car and similarly, if they're urinals you'd probably use the second one from where someone is already peeing. In a pub where typically there may be three, the middle one sees far less action than the others. Similarly if two are in use and the only choice is the one between, so you'd be shoulder to shoulder - well there's no real reason not to. Some would choose the cubicle instead. When it comes to being with mates in that circumstance the girls are correct that guys don't go off in pairs, they generally don't announce they need a wee and someone else say 'oh me too I'll come with you'. Partly that is a macho thing - very often straight guys are fearful of having their masculinity questioned. Also though, remember that guys go to the toilet to pee and come back. I'm in danger of stereotyping but ladies - when you go to the toilet together, do you spend time touching up makeup, putting a quick lift back into your hair, checking your appearance? Those are all social activities to do with a BFF - and guys don't do that. They'll smoke together, but the toilet is for one function alone and it's not social. If it happens to be that mates coincidentally go to the bathroom or end up in there at the same time, then the chats will happen - or even chats with random strangers in some cases (if people are there to watch the same match etc), So - it's not as black and white as they make out - probably just that guys are more functional and ladies more social. 2 Link to post

If you stand next to another guy at the urinal, it’s possible that he will be unable to whip his dick out, because your dick is in the way. Also, one of your dicks may chip the other guy’s paintwork. (This is a prompt for transformers fan fic - @Ms. Tito?) (Conversely, parking the cars together provides more privacy for anyone peeing in the car park to shelter behind the cars) 1 Link to post
