The ideology of judgementalists

We are all here familiar with the kind of people I call narrowmind judgementalists. They are often on some level puritanical prudes, obsessed with the supposed immorality of the private sexual practices of others.

In the past they have been down on homosexualty, fetishes, lesbianism, often supporting laws against some of these things, thinking that consenting adult private sexual practices nevertheless need to be policed because they persist in viewien them as evil perversions, essentially just because they don't like them. On one level it is them trying to outlaw and prevent the rest of us doing something in private just because they don't like it, imposing their own repressed standards upon the rest of us.

I have long been familiar with these types on the political right, which I have almost come to view as the natural political wing of narrowmind judgementalism.

But in recent days on twitter I have encountered and been engaged in deep debate and argument with some left wing feminist examples of the phenomenon. Basically they were convinced that BDSM is bad and unnatural because it reflects and is an aspect of so called "patriarchy" in which men dominate and abuse women. They see that particular kink - and would no doubt take the same attitude to a man pissing on a woman - as merely a sexual form of men dominating and abusing women as they feel happens in every other aspect of life.

But this ideological belief is flawed on so many levels. It takes no account of "consent" - which they pretty much said was an irrelevance. My point that what consenting adults get up to in private is their own business and nobody else's they totally refused to accept, describing it as "vapid socialism in the streets, libertarianism in the sheets" as if it is somehow wrong for adults to have sexual freedom. At one point I called them sexual fascists wanting to reintroduce policemen into the bedroom.

I also pointed out that it was just as likely to be the woman in the dom role and the man as sub as the other way around. And that some BDSM couples interchange such roles. I questioned how the fuck such facts fit a supposed sexual "patriarchy" of men dominating and abusing women, and jokingly suggested that a dom woman and sub man was more akin to matriarchy. This was all too much to compute. They had no ideological answer to it, so instead of engaging with these facts they chose to ignore them and pretend such points had not been made and did not exist.

At this point it became clear to me that their feminist ideology re sexual expression was too dear to them to let facts get in the way of it. At which point I also realised that debating with them was  therefore a total waste of time. They were ideologically obsessed and dishonest debaters, holding to their ideology and ignoring and dismissing facts that didn't fit - like bible bashers rather than sensible debaters. I pretty much lost patience at this point and blocked them.

Thing is I am very much on the left myself and believe we are all about justice and freedom. That some on the left can come up with such narrowmind shite has been rather a disappointment to me, but I oppose them as much as I oppose narrowminds of the right. We on the left will not win popularity by becoming Marxist-feminist versions of Mary Whitehouse (look her up if you don't know who she was).

Yes,in recent times,censorship has become more about pandering to the will of religious fanatics,than actual morality.Or once again,the nanny state,many parents wanting porn banned,because they are bad parents and allow their kids far too much time online,so to ban porn is easier than being a responsible parent,and monitoring your childrens activities.

The plan the UK Govt had,which hopefully has been dropped was to require you to basically fill in a kind of questionnaire before it would allow you onto certain sites.

WHO actually determined these "certain sites" i dont know.Big Brother indeed..

All porn is between consenting adults,or actors etc,any other is of course rightfully illegal,and users deserve castration.
