  1. That's a good point, the building looks very run down so it's certainly possible that the plumbing may not be in very good shape, if it works at all.
  2. Ah, that's right, I remember you saying that back in Romania the women did not want the boys or men tying up the few scarce toilets, they wanted them reserved for the women, so that makes sense that it would be coming into play in the situation in the video. And yes, it does look like many of the men are drinking alcohol. It's obviously a poorly maintained, run down building and nobody seems concerned about adding to the mess. I was also hoping you could elaborate on your last comment, "There's also the fact that few Russian men care what anyone thinks." When I first read that, I understoo
  3. Are all of those guys visitors to the building? If they live there you would think they could use the toilet in the apartment as they're leaving or as they get home. Even if they are friends of residents you would think they would have access to the bathroom. Could it be that they just prefer to pee in "naughty" or open places, even if there's obviously a camera there (some of them acknowledge or wave to the camera)? Does it seem more "manly" to them, or is it just a convenience? Any thoughts from the Europeans here who might understand the mindset of these guys?
  4. As a Western man as well, I would agree with Carb0nBased's comment on this. I would consider it a positive characteristic for a woman, even a close family member, to be willing to use an open squat or trough toilet in China. I would think of them as open-minded, adaptable and self-confident if they did not hesitate to use the open toilets in full view of the other women and did not seem to be at all bothered by it. Those are the kind of women I would like to be around, as opposed to uptight, excessively private women. I would definitely not think of the open-minded women as sluts. It's the
  5. Thanks for the response Havelock. As I mentioned before, I've only visited Spain for brief periods in the past but I really like it there and it wouldn't be a bad place to retire. My first couple trips were in high school in the early 1980s. Since there was no internet then I had no way of knowing that peeing in public was widely accepted there. I was aware that women sometimes went topless on the beaches since Johnny Carson mentioned it on the Tonight Show, but that was about it. I never noticed any public peeing while I was there then, but I wasn't really looking for it either since I w
  6. Beachmom, were these beaches that you're referring to in Romania and Eastern Europe, or does this description apply generally to beaches throughout Europe? That's interesting that even on beaches that are not designated as nude there are clothing optional areas where it is accepted. I'm sure that would not go over too well at non-nude beaches in the US. And yes, I've only read about the male nude swimming at the YMCA and swim meets at schools since it ended right before my childhood, but it does seem to be well-documented even though our modern-day American mind seems to have a hard time ac
  7. Havelock, I have a few questions about Spain since you have spent a lot of time there. I took a few brief trips there in the 80s and 90s but never witnessed any of the open peeing that you experienced from your time living there. I really like the country and would like to go again sometime. I read something on another site that was written from someone who was born and raised in China and who was comparing the open peeing culture of China to Spain. It seems like she lived in Spain for a time in college or as a young adult. Because it was an anonymous post like we see on this site I wasn'
  8. I've heard about the lax attitude toward changing in public from a friend who has German cousins who were born and raised there. He commented that on at least one occasion when visiting the beach with them there, his female cousins would change right in front of him beside the car in the parking lot. They didn't seem to be the least bit concerned that they were exposing their breasts to their American cousin who was not used to this custom.
  9. One more thing that I just thought of as I was reading this. We have a home movie in our family that's probably from the late 1960s, when I was about four or five years old. I'm on the beach together with the daughter of some good friends of my parents. The daughter was the same age as me. We used to go to each other's birthday parties. The interesting thing is that the daughter is just wearing a frilly, tutu-like bathing suit bottom and nothing on top. This was commonplace back then for young girls who were still many years away from puberty to only wear bottoms on the beach or for swim
  10. Beachmom, your comment about changing swimsuit styles made me think back to when I was a child growing up in the US in the 1970s. The kind of swim suit that I and all the other boys wore back then was a kind of stretchy, form-fitting fabric that you sometimes had to struggle with to pull on, especially if it was wet. It was thicker fabric than a speedo (although I've never worn a speedo myself) and just slightly stretchy, not like spandex. I'm not sure what it was made of. It was also short as was the style for men and boys then. It covered just the very upper part of your thighs, sort of
  11. That Amsterdam video was pretty amazing. As an American man, I'm used to guys ignoring the guy peeing next to him and trying to pretend he's not there. The guys in the video just walk up to what seem to be strangers, make eye contact with them and start up a conversation. Some look like they're joking around with each other. A few even seem to be looking down at the other guy's penis and no one seems bothered by it. Beachmom, was this the way it was when you were growing up in Romania? I was picturing them being a little more discreet but were they just out in the open like this, talking
  12. I was curious to read the comments to this, but since there aren't any yet I guess I'll chime in. I've always wondered this myself. I'm in my late 50s and grew up in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1970s it seemed to be more in fashion for women to go braless and for the outline of their nipples to be showing through their clothing. I didn't realize how common it was at the time since I was pretty young then and went into puberty toward the end of the 70s. But re-watching some of the old TV shows and movies from that decade on HDTV it's a lot more clear than it was on the older TV sets with l
  13. Thank you for your very detailed reply. I've been lurking here on this site for a few months and have read through a lot of your past posts. I really like your attitude about encouraging the guys around you to feel comfortable about peeing outside. It's interesting to hear a mom's perspective on the subject. I was raised in kind of a conservative family and my mother was "prim and proper" about children's behavior. Since I'm about the same age as you, it's a little hard to think back and remember if she might have been giving me any subtle hints to let me know it was OK to pee openly outs
  14. I'm curious what advice you give to the moms to help convince their sons to pee outside. And if their son is not one of the ones who wants to do it and is just waiting for the OK from mom, but her son is very reluctant to do it even when his mom is openly telling him to do so, how can the mom get her son to warm up to the idea?
