Is peeing on the bathroom floor normal in parts of the world like India?

Recommended Posts

I noticed in videos (some here) from certain parts of the world (e.g. India, Bangladesh, though maybe it's all countries that use squat toilets) most of the time the ladies will pee on the floor. Sometimes they position themselves on the squat toilet but don't mind that the stream is completely going on the floor. More often they just squat anywhere in the bathroom and let it out. Sometimes they get leave without cleaning up, other times they pour like 1 cup of water which definitely isn't enough to wash away their giant puddle.

What I wonder is, is this just a porn trope, or is it actually common there, that millions of women simply pee on the floor with no second thought? And it just soaks there until it evaporates or slowly drains away? I wonder about the slippery slope this opens up too, if the toilet isn't the main thing they require to pee, does that mean they'll do it anywhere when privacy is available, e.g. a change room, or a kitchen or living room when they're alone?

Also, as a straight male I've only accidentally seen a couple of male videos from that region, in which they used the toilet/urinal. Though I also wonder if it's something the gents there do too.

Sorry I got too excited, my main question is in bold.

Idk if the videos I have watched were from those countries, usually the origin location isn't listed in any way, but I have definitely seen a few with men who looked like they could be from there just peeing onto the floor. The most recent one of that kind that I've watched was in some sort of public, but enclosed and tiled area which seemed to be used for washing clothes, peeing and showering. Like, one guy would be doing his laundry and another guy would just walk up to him and pee next to him without any regards for splashes 😜 No designated facilities in any way, just an area where anything wet was supposed to be handled.

That might have been the most drastic example, but it was definitely not the only case where 'toilet' just meant 'tiled area with some source of water to clean up afterwards'.

--> So maybe everybody in the videos you've watched was just so used to peeing on the floor in these areas that they didn't see any reason not to do the same in the cases where a more 'conventional' toilet is installed.

That's exactly what I want to find out.

I think in many parts of the world we see a clear distinction between toilets or urinals and floors or showers, but in other parts of the world it's not so obvious. I had this discussion with another mom some years ago when she was critical of boys for peeing in locker room showers. So as I showed her, these are urinals....   and then showers.  What's the difference and where does the urinal end and the floor begin?

I think these bathrooms are usually built to be more like a walk-in shower, they just made it like this before it was cool. So generally they are tiled all around, they slope in the direction of a drain, sometimes not even slightly. And we are talking about a country where hygienic toilet access is still an issue for a huge part of the population, so I guess their customs are less strict when it comes to peeing.

To answer your question, I think it is as common as it looks.
