Secretary talked to me whilst I was in the toilet

This just happened to me and whilst I had no problem with it, it did seem slightly strange.

So, to set the scene, I work from home in an office in the upstairs of our house.  My wife runs a business and she has a secretary who works part time in an office downstairs in our house.   We often chat about business things and also about life in general and what we do outside of work.   She is in her late 40s, slim build, nice figure.   She varies considerably in what she chooses to wear to work - today it was jeans and a sweatshirt with trainers but yesterday it was a tight, very short dress with stiletto heals, and I can't deny I took more than a slight glance at her - especially when she bent over to get some files and I'm sure she knew I was looking.  Her skirt didn't quite reveal her bum but it wasn't far off!    We are always professional but have a bit of fun banter but nothing more as I am happily married to her boss and she is divorced but in a happy relationship with a guy.  She does know that I think she looks good because I've mentioned it when she wears nice clothes.

Anyway, about ten minutes ago, I went to the toilet in the upstairs bathroom, which is right opposite the top of the stairs.   I never bother closing the door fully, but just push it back far enough that if I'm standing at the toilet I couldn't be seen from downstairs.   I was stood there peeing a fair stream right into the water, so it was making a good amount of sound when I heard her call my name from the bottom of the stairs.  I responded with "Hello", whilst still peeing.  She totally must have known what I was doing and could hear me.   She carried on to tell me that she was about to leave and updated me on a couple of things, all whilst I was still peeing.  She then left and closed the front door just after I stopped peeing but before I could appear around the door.

I'm not at all bothered that she heard me peeing (she probably can hear from the office anyway) and I will admit that I've enjoyed listening to her pee in the downstairs toilet on numerous occasions (unfortunately she does close the door), but I kind of expected that when she came to find me and heard me peeing that she would probably have waited before calling me and launching into conversation.   It just seemed a little surreal having that conversation whilst I was stood there peeing with only a partially closed door between us.   

I nearly always use the upstairs toilet to pee when she is in the house as the downstairs toilet is right next to her desk and I don't want to appear rude or intrusive.   I have only used the downstairs toilet with her nearby a couple of times, when I've been going through something for the business with her and she has received a phone call, and I have said I'll just go to the loo whilst you take that call and it would seem odd to trek upstairs when there is a toilet right there.  Maybe I should start using the downstairs toilet more often and see whether she chats to me then?

Yes. Somewhat strange @Alfresco. But maybe she was just really keen to get going - perhaps realising she was late - so couldn't wait till you'd finished, and didn't know whether you would come back downstairs 

In any case you could use the downstairs toilet more, but then if your office is upstairs that might look odd.

She wouldn't expect me to necessarily come downstairs when I'd finished - I'd be more likely to just return to my office.

I do venture downstairs a few times in the day - making tea, responding to her queries/issues with her work, putting washing on etc.   However, I usually just go down, do what I need to do and then go back up again, so I'm sure she would think it a bit strange that I choose to use the toilet next to her office rather than the one upstairs.   In some ways I wish we had a standard kettle as I would have the excuse of using the downstairs loo whilst the kettle boiled, but we have a hot water boiler which is always ready to go and therefore no need to wait whilst it boils.  Might work sometimes if I'm down there for a longer time though.

From everything you've described,  if you were as an example to take some washing down, potter about in the kitchen with it, make a brew, it sounds like there's a reasonable chance of getting into conversation with the secretary either on a work or social matter.

Then mid conversation it wouldn't seem at all unnatural for you to ask "would you just excuse me for one moment" before ducking into the nearby downstairs toilet.  And whilst doing so it wouldn't be too unreasonable to swing the door mostly closed, but not actually shut and lock it.  After all it's your house - why do you need to hide away - you're both adults with moral standards and it's obvious you're in there.  Clearly different people have different conventions in their own homes and it wouldn't be unreasonable or give out TOO overt a message.

If she just considers peeing as a bodily function then she'll probably take away that so do you, that you trust her and aren't uncomfortable with her being nearby. If she has any passing interest, well maybe you'd tick a box on her list by her being able to listen and imagine the scene, maybe trigger one of those conversations 'sounded like you needed that...' that can lead on to some very fun chats and two way anecdote sharing from there or in the future.

Just a perfectly natural behaviour in one's own home.
