Peeing in the Pool - Funny Story from My Past

I live in a suburban area of a medium-sized city in the Northeastern US. Because of our cold snowy winters, we take summertime fun very seriously. 

Many years ago my ex-wife and I were at a small pool party gathering at friends of ours, who lived in the same neighborhood as my ex's parents. 

This neighborhood was sort of out in the country, more than 30 minutes' drive from where I live now. So living in the country, these friends were salt-of-the-Earth type people, not the least bit pretentious. The neighborhood had a very laid back vibe. 

The host of the party, Marie, and her husband, were probably in their mid-thirties at the time. I was in my twenties, and just knew they were a little older, so mid-thirties is just a guess. Marie was semi-attractive (let's call her a "6"), with short-ish dark hair and a medium "mom" type build (even though she did not have kids).

She was a real partier, and kind of had a reputation for her drunken antics. Never particularly harmful per se, just often over-the-top. We'd roll our eyes, chuckle, and chalk things up to "Marie being Marie."

So at this party, which was (I think) three couples - my ex and I, Marie and her husband, and one other neighbor couple, all 6 of us were in the pool. We had all been drinking all afternoon. Marie was the center of attention, telling a story of some sort, standing in the water, near the edge of the pool, when all of a sudden she stopped telling the story and started laughing uncontrollably. We were all like "What? What's so funny?"

And she said "I was trying to pee! I had to stop talking so I could concentrate on peeing! I thought I could do both at the same time, but apparently I'm not good at multitasking!"

And here's an interesting post-script to the story - about ten years later, Marie was elected Mayor of the town where they lived! I remember seeing her on the news at the time and thinking "Hey, I know her!" 😆
