As we get older, our ability to hold our pee declines even without a medical condition like an enlarged prostate.  I've found that things I used to do, like a two hour car trip after two or three big mugs of coffee, are no longer possible.  And nowadays, after three beers I just can't hold it until I've had a fourth.  The days of just clamping my sphincter and holding for hours are long gone.
