I also find the third set in this issue sleazy, though for me it's a bit less exciting than the first. That may be because one of the three women is wearing a mask. I understand the need for masks in other, more extreme kinds of taboo porn, but the face mask seems unnecessary here. - Though it's clearly the model's right to adopt a disguise if she wants to. I'm surprised at how much the first section, Golden Trio, excites me. I've never thought about it before but I wonder how much actual overlap there was between the titles. Were women hired to do photo sessions including, for example, both anal sex and piss, specific pictures then being published in the relevant magazines? The story contains and example of what we pee aficionado’s call ‘Power Pissing’. Perhaps there are some shots that have been previously remained on the cutting room floor, or it could be that they now appear in a more highly polished magazine. In the third and final story we see the return of our cover girl in a story called, ‘Wet Sex Affair’ in which two ordinary looking guys, (They could be a stand-up comedy double act) engage in WS in her bathroom. I was admittedly fairly young and very naïve when I first bought a copy of Sex Bizarre, but the act of buying it at that time felt very much like the breaking of a powerful taboo. Although piss porn never became exactly mainstream, I wonder if it became a shade more acceptable as time went on. Certainly, the European sex shops used to stock large numbers of copies, so SB must have been popular.

I had to virtually re-assemble this issue from the images provided on ‘Imagefap’. No text, or credit page available either, but I assume that it was published sometime in 1985. If my memory serves me right, it may have been the first time that Color Climax were shooting their stories in a more hotter climate, like Spain and the Balearic Islands. In the apartment we are given the impression that the combination of the sun and the wine have loosened all inhibitions. They fondle and caress, removing one item of clothing after another, it’s the first time that I have seen one of the females with tattoos, albeit very subtle by todays standards. As with all my favourite Sex Bizarre sets, the girls here are very pretty and seem to be having fun. There's the sense of innocence I associate with a lot of examples of early porn, from the liberated later 1960s onwards. The topless sunbathing pictures in the park encapsulate that spirit. Sex Bizarre 35 continued - Thirsty Lady

Nyhavn, pictured in the opening image, has gone through several changes since I first visited, in - I think - the early 1990s. I first remember it as an area of 'low' bars, in several of which oriental women - many of them by no means young - danced to jukebox music with men I took to be sailors. Sex Bizarre was still being published as a quarterly magazine along with the other trail blazing titles like, Color Climax, Anal Sex and New Cunts. It was clear that the fetish of ‘water sports’ was a sustainable and viable subject for a pornographic magazine of quality. We’re so used to subscribing to media now, I do wonder whether fans of the magazine had the ability to ‘subscribe’. HM Customs were still doing checks at Border Control, so those living in countries like the UK took a risk in buying the magazine from countries like Germany, Holland and of course, Denmark, the country of production. One of my contacts told me that he attempted to buy Sex Bizarre from a small ad in a Mens Magazine, he received a warning letter from HM Customs and his ‘goods’ were confiscated. Others say that if they purchased the magazine in Sex Shops in Amsterdam, it was like smuggling drugs, such was the risk of being searched and found out at Border Control. One guy told me that he purchased several copies of Sex Bizarre whilst on a student trip to Paris and was really nervous on returning to the UK, having hidden them with other documents in his hand luggage.

 

Sex Bizarre has a curious story called ‘Urine Surprise’, it features a couple engaged in pissing fun on a farm, with the female model dressed in retro-milk maid wear, with the guy clad in fishing gear.  I do wonder whether the couple have applied to ‘star’ in the magazine, (they make one more appearance in a later issue). They are certainly not familiar models and this is their debut. Couples did send in photographs in response to the advert in Sex Bizarre, they are certainly very sexy and attractive. She urinates in a chamber pot, and he drenches her see-thru blouse with yellow piss, they certainly give the impression that they enjoy the act of peeing over one another as well as having more conventional vanilla sex.

 

I have visited Amsterdam on several occasions, and am familiar with the city and its more salubrious districts. A friend said that Copenhagen is very similar, in terms of the scale and architecture. In the second story ‘Thirsty Lady’ the opening photograph of the harbour district of Nordhavn, I can see what my friend means. The scenario returns to more familiar territory and a female model who has posed in a previous issue. That cover picture on Sex Bizarre 35 is familiar to me from the Amsterdam sex shops but this issue never appealed to me enough to make me open it. I think the woman's bonnet is what puts me off, though I notice that she swaps it for a red headscarf later in the set. Yes, it would be nice to think that this couple were genuine enthusiasts, who really got off on playing out their own - to me - rather strange take on the fetish. But we'll never know, of course.

That said, the woman's face and cunt are growing on me as I go through the pictures. Both features are attractive, as is her dirty pissing on her male partner's cock.

Grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character, and

Portrays in an explicit and realistic way any of the following:

An act which threatens a person's life, or

An act which results, or is likely to result, in serious injury to a person's anus, breasts or genitals, or

An act which involves sexual interference with a human corpse (necrophilia), or

A person performing an act of intercourse or oral sex with an animal (whether dead or alive) (bestiality), or

An act which involves the non-consensual penetration of a person's vagina, anus or mouth by another with the other person's penis or part of the other person’s body or anything else (rape or assault by penetration)

and

A reasonable person looking at the image would think that the persons or animals were real.

Expert evidence is not likely to be admissible to demonstrate whether an image is pornographic or not. This is a matter for the magistrates’ court or jury assessing the image. The intention of the defendant or their sexual arousal is not relevant either.

"Grossly offensive" are ordinary English words: Connolly v DPP [2007] 1 ALL ER 1012. "Obscene" has an ordinary meaning ("repulsive", "filthy", "loathsome" or "lewd"), distinct from that provided for by the statutory terms of the Obscene Publications Act 1959: Anderson [1972] 1 QB 304.

The portrayal must be explicit and realistic, and thus artistic representations, even if deemed pornographic and obscene, are unlikely to be caught.

That seems to rule out piss porn as a current target for prosecution but the terminology is typically vague. E.g.  "A reasonable person looking at the image ..." (What constitutes 'a reasonable person'? etc.) Still, the legislation seems to be aimed at bestiality and violence rather than piss play. 

I'm reminded of the Anti-Sex league in Orwell's 1984, whose members work at producing supposedly clandestine pornographic material to keep its users in constant fear of arrest, thus deflecting their attention from the true nature of the Big Brother society.

Sybille’s Thing: The cover picture is very familiar, though I'm not sure I ever bought the magazine. The sex shops in Amsterdam in the 1990s used to offer a wide range of Sex Bizarre titles, which presumably  attests to their popularity.

Sometime in the 1990s I came to the conclusion that the majority of young women in Scandinavia and Germany had done at least a little porn. I'm now pretty sure I was wrong, but given the amount of porn around, in photos and on video, it certainly looked that way. However, I think piss porn, being so specialized and 'dirty', was probably much less attractive to the majority of prospective models. It would be nice, though, to know how many women applied to Sex Bizarre. I wonder if there's a list of previous applicants somewhere in their offices. 

More generally, I often think of the women who are now middle-aged or older who did porn modelling in their youth.
