The bus ride of desperation

So this story happened over ten years ago. Circa 2009. I was a mere freshman in high school. This was probably a defining moment for me in Omo journey but I didn’t realize it at the time. If I recall correctly, I was wearing a long skirt, a t shirt, and my chuck taylor low tops. The typical ‘scene’ kid outfit of that time.

 

The day was like any other. Normal routine at school. Last period of the day was PE. I always got two waters at the end of class to sip on for the hour and half ride home from school. (We lived in BFE so it took the bus forever to get mw home. Also, I was last stop on the route.) Well, for whatever reason, I chugged one bottle before getting on the bus and the second shortly after. 

 

After about 10 minutes, I could feel that I had to pee but pushed it out of my mind. I was working on homework and chatting so it was pretty easy to ignore. Well about 20 minutes or so go by and I’m starting to really feel the water. I tried to keep my mind from it but it kept resurfacing after a minute or two. 

 

Another 15 minutes or so had passed and I was really feeling it. At this point I was jiggling my leg and trying to hide the fact I was bursting to pee. I knew I could make it home but it was going to be pure agony. My thighs were permanently glued together in an attempt to find comfort. It worked for the most part. By now, we were only about 15 minutes away from my stop and I was one of the last few on the bus.

 

At this point, I was starting to sweat and could feel every bump in the road. Thankfully it was hot outside so if someone asked, I just blame

It on the weather. We were about 5 minutes from my stop but I couldn’t sit any longer or I was going to explode. I sheepishly walked to the front of the bus, thighs still glued together.

 

“Samantha, you know better than to stand on the bus when it’s moving.” said the bus driver. Her name was Ms Karen. She was in her late thirties and had blond curly hair.

 

“I know but I have to go pee SO bad that if I sit I might just have an accident!” I said. I was absolutely dying now. I was starting to do a small pee dance.

 

“You must really have to go.” 

 

“Yeah. Can you go any faster please? This is an emergency!” I pleaded. I was now bent at the waist with my hands pressed onto my thighs.

 

“Oh honey, I’ll try but these back country roads aren’t exactly easy to drive this big bus down. We’re almost there though honey. You got this!” Said Karen.

 

We finally came over the last turn and my bladder was screaming. My adrenaline was probably the only thing keeping me from exploding on the front seat of the bus at this point. The doors opened and before we had even stopped I took off running. There was an old abandoned barn right behind the bus stop. 

 

I don’t think I had ever ran that fast in my life at that point. As soon as I turned the corner, I hiked my skirt up and pulled the underwear down enough to unleash the torrential amount of pee inside me. It must’ve been 2 or 3 minutes before I stopped. I slowly stood up and pulled my underwear back up. I turned the corner to see the bus sitting there still. 

 

“Hey Samantha! You forgot your book bag sweetheart!” Shouted Karen.

 

Crap. I was in such a rush to go pee that I completely forgot about it. I was so embarrassed to walk over and get it. My face was bright red.

 

“Don’t be so hard on yourself. Accidents happen all the time.” Stated the Ms Karen. “I remember this one time a few friends and myself went drinking on the lake. The water was cold to swim in so we were just cruising. We had been out a few hours now and a few of us were absolutely dying to pee. So much so that we had to land the boat and go into the woods. Not all of us made it though. My friend ended up having an accident climbing off the boat and peed her white pants. So don’t be too hard on yourself. It happens.” said Ms Karen before driving away. 

 

I stood there a minute or two in shock trying to process what had just happened. I almost peed myself I’m front of someone. No matter what she could’ve said to me, I was still embarrassed. I slowly walked over to my bike and began the ride home. The stop was about a 10 minute bike ride from my actual house. By the time I had gotten home, I think I had finally calmed down enough to grasp the situation.

 

I apologize if I wrote this before. It’s been awhile and new memories from the incident keep arising. If I remember anything else, I’ll just update the story.

A great story! I don't remember reading it before. And what a cool driver! I am intrigued as to what it was like when you next got on the bus. Presumably you were the first to be picked up. Was it Ms Karen driving again? So many questions!

You and I must be the same person lol. I too was a scene-ish freshman in highschool in 2009. Wouldn't be caught dead without my chucks that's for sure. 

At least the bus driver was understanding lol. It's my understanding kids have smaller bladders so I'm sure it wasn't the first time she had had that happen to her.

That sounds like severe desperation and I'm glad you made it to pee without having an embarrassing accident.  You must have been shocked to realise that Ms Karen knew that you'd been peeing when you came back to the bus but she was super nice to (a) wait for you whilst you peed to allow you to collect your book bag and (b) to be nice about your situation and put you at ease.   I suspect she was pleased that you had managed to wait and not flood her bus.  She may even have secretly enjoyed it.

I’ll probably be a scene kid for life too haha. And I’m sure. She was probably taken back by the fact that a teenager was about to have an accident on the bus.

I have no clue haha. I only rode the bus for a few more weeks before school ended. Then our routes got changed so I never saw her again. But she was an angel. Always so caring for everyone on her bus even if they were just tagging along with a friend.

That must have been shear desperation! You had an amazing bus driver, and it's nice to know that with a small bladder at a young age, you were able to hold for that long!
