The PeeFans Sports Club

Recommended Posts

What you may ask is the PeeFans Sports Club?

Well, it's just a bit of fun really and a follow-up to a bit of chat this lunchtime between a few members who were all motivating each other to go out and do a bit of exercise this afternoon.  So that's it really, a topic where you can share an account of anything vaguely sporty you've been up to.  Any sport goes too....

Like any club, there's a few rules - in general these are the main site rules anyway

- Be positive - It doesn't matter if this is your first time round the block on a bike or whether you're a seasoned marathon runner. Everybody starts somewhere. Whatever activity, if it's raised your heart rate and got blood flowing it's better than sitting on the sofa*.  So be positive and supportive,

- Where people have posted photos etc, no trying to guess the locations or trying to derive personal information - if someone wants to remain vague about their location that's absolutely fine.

- This is the 'General Chat' area -  so keep it that way.  You may have had the most amazing outdoor pee or sports kit wetting and we applaud you - there's nothing to stop you posting that in the correct ladies or men peeing topic and putting a link to it in your post here.

So...  What have you done to get off the sofa today.

* I know sitting on the sofa viewing PeeFans can also get the heart pumping and blood flowing.

I went for a bike ride this afternoon, nowhere in general......get to a junction then decide which way to go etc. Usually end up going over fields and through woods etc 🤣

Looks like a fun road to cycle on...if you don't suddenly meet a tractor coming the other way!

I'm really pleased you started this forum thread @gldenwetgoose. It has coincided with a need get back to running with more purpose. All the 10k races I would have entered this year have been cancelled, and running without anything to aim for is not very motivating. So this morning I set out with the intention of running 5 miles, for the first time in quite a while. And I ran faster than I expected, which has pleased me no end. I'm not going to be setting the road alight, but not far off 50 minute pace for 10k. So thanks again. (By the way, if there are any cardiologists reading, please don't tell me my max heart rate means I'll be dead fairly soon. I feel fine.)

Just beautiful @gldenwetgoose. I miss the northern hills. It's so flat here in the fens - it can be beautiful in its own way, but ...

To give you an idea, I went for a walk this afternoon after our chat before lunch - 6.64 miles at a leisurely pace (3.1mph average). Total ascent ... 21 feet.

It may be flat (in fact there's no 'may' about it) but very beautiful and that makes up for it.

Wow just beautiful scenery gldenwetgoose and Kupar. The only waking I can enjoy now is on the treadmill. Our blizzard this past weekend left about a foot and a half of snow on the ground

Hope things get better for you soon @speedy3471

It sounds difficult for you right now ❤️

Well I have been pretty rubbish at being active lately.  I do like outdoor activities such as kayaking, walking and cycling, but not really made time for it lately due to other pressures and also evenings being dark now so I can't easily go off kayaking after work for example.

However, this lunch time I went for a cycle ride, a short section on the road then through woods, down to the canal, along the towpath, back up through woods to a small lake or large pond and then more woods and the last bit on the road.  Some lovely autumn colours in the woods and even the canal has loads of fallen leaves floating on the water.   It was a bit of a grey day so the photos aren't great but they will give you the idea.   I don't have any real stats other than I was out for about 50 minutes and I would guess it was around 10 miles.  It was nice to get out for a bit or air and exercise.  Oh and yes I did pee whilst I was out.  Photo can be found in my thread in the men peeing section https://peefans.com/topic/17108-alfresco-peeing/?do=findComment&comment=243892

Thanks.  Photos don't really do it justice.  It was drizzling with rain and a bit grey all round, so the photos are a bit dulled down and not very sharp.   I do love autumn colours though.

Today's exercise - a paddle on the canal before work.   About an hour along the canal in a kayak.  Saw only two people on the towpath and I saw a kingfisher flitting between trees along the bank:

Lovely! And the kingfisher was a fantastic bonus. I have only seen them a handful of times...

Yes, beautiful flash of blue flying into a low bush, then as I got nearer it flitted along a bit further.  I tried to stay quiet and I managed to get reasonably close, but not close enough for a photo with that camera.

I have said it before, but I am so grateful to @gldenwetgoose for starting this topic - it has been instrumental in bringing my running mojo back. I forced myself out this morning when the weather wasn't looking promising, and was rewarded with rapidly clearing skies, warm sunshine and a disappearing breeze.

It was one of those runs where after a couple of miles you settle into a comfortable rhythm (3 strides per in and out breath) and you think you can run forever. The form and breathing started to go a bit at 6.5 miles, but it was still a really enjoyable exercise session.

The stats: 7.55 miles (12.15 km); 1:01:36 (8:09 / mile); 49 ft ascent; 186 average bpm; 1088 calories.

Picture from the area I run, from yesterday's walk.

It seems to have been a while since I've managed to break the Groundhog Day syndrome of working until mid-afternoon when it's starting to go dark. Today I took the opportunity to break my hours and take a bike ride just after lunch.

Looking out of the window, reasonably dry roads, clear blue skies an no prospect of rain, sunshine - although I new it was going to be cold.

So just before 2pm I managed to get out on my road bike. Today's route is one of the 'go to' rides, although maybe suited to a hybrid more than skinny tyre'd carbon road frame. It's a circular cycle route around the edge of my local city. Mostly asphalt paths and a few public roads, it's popular with cyclists, joggers and dog walkers.

The first few miles were my familiar country lanes leading to a point to join the route. It was not too windy, crisp but warm in the sun. As I joined the cycle path the first thought of 'I know I'm going to be spending Saturday cleaning my bike' occurred to me. Much of the route is under tree cover which at this time of year means wet leaves.  That thought was well and truly reinforced a few miles further - the path drops down a very steep incline through woods to drop down to river level. It's quite a dangerous descent and near impossible to ride up on a road bike.  I managed it with lots of foot dabbing and squelching.

At the bottom of that descent the route is flat, through a wetlands nature reserve then picking up the river, through the south of the city and out to the west. Now, just coming out of the nature reserve the cycle path takes a dedicated route just next to the road as it passes under a motorway bridge. Given I was on a 'road' bike there is a sensible option and then the option I took.... the cycle path.

As soon as I committed to it I saw the huge lake of a puddle across most of the width - steered to the side, hit the big patch of mud, where my skinny slick rear wheel spun and jumped sideways.  Another curse of road cycling are 'clipless' pedals - a ridiculous name since they're not clipless - you are actually clipped to the pedal and yes- being clipped in I couldn't unclip in time and landed with a SPLAT straight into the huge muddy puddle.  It didn't hurt at all - the wet mud was like jumping on a well pee'd on mattress.  Let's just say I definitely need to clean my bike now...

The rest of the ride was good - and uneventful.  The photos show the aftermath and a bit of the scenery. I didn't take too many more photos, it was a bit of a race to get back before dark...

Mud - Glorious Mud.   A fair summary.

Thanks for the detailed update and pictures! Good to see you out and about on the bike again ... and I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself when you came off. Gotta love a Mamil (nice bum, by the way - hope that's not too disrespectful GWG).

A good ride there @gldenwetgoose, but yes it sounds like not the best route for a road bike.   Pleased you didn't hurt yourself but lots of cleaning up to do!

That's a beautiful place @Kupar and it sounds like a great run too.   I'm not really a runner - I tried to get into it at the start of the first lockdown, but my knees didn't agree with it.   I've since purchased better shoes so maybe I should try again.   The only real reason I would want to run though is to be able to have an excuse to hang around at the start of events and hope to see some ladies peeing in the bushes!

Yes @Alfresco - I am lucky to live where I do. For running it's good in one way and bad in another ... it's flat as a pancake so straightforward to pace yourself, but with no hill climb challenges at all to push the heart and lungs a bit. Knees can be troublesome if you're not careful. I have some neoprene knee brace things that I use when they get a bit 'twingey', but so far (touch wood) they are holding up. The right shoes make a massive difference. It's well worth going to a specialist who will analyse your gait and recommend the right pair. I have been known to follow a nice lycra-clad female arse round a race and completely forget to look at my pace ... never seen anyone peeing though 😞

@Kupar, thanks for the tips.  I may give it a go again sometime.

And why not.  You may as well get some enjoyment out of it.

You may be going to the wrong races?   I have very rarely attended a race, but my daughter used to do cross country running at school and there was one event that she was entered into which was an open even with different age groups including adults.  I saw two women standing behind a hedge and then they dropped down out of sight.  I walked through a gap in the hedge and found them squatted down, shorts at their knees and both peeing a good flow into the grass.  I apologised saying that I wasn't expecting to be interrupting women peeing - especially as there were toilets just 200m away, but they said they never use toilets at races as they generally stink and they preferred to pee behind a bush.   Fair play to them.

I've only attended one other adult race and that was a "Race for Life" event.  There were huge queues for the portaloos but I didn't catch anyone peeing.   Maybe I was just lucky at that first race, however, I'm sure I've read various websites that talk about people needing to pee before and during races and not being anywhere near enough toilets and people peeing in bushes etc.

Today another 10k run - just to get some miles under the belt during quite a busy week, and check the cardiovascular system, ankles, shins, knees and hips are all OK. Next week I think I need to start some interval / speed work.

But today was fine: 6.29 mi (10.12 km); 50:56 (8:06 / mile); 21 ft ascent; 183 average bpm; 901 calories. I pushed on a bit in mile 5 by increasing the stride length but not the cadence (7:44 / mile). No photos I'm afraid - not even of my toned, lycra-clad bum and legs 😉 Maybe another time.
