Off the back of a thread @Sophie started about how often we all masturbate, many people here are multiple times a week, often daily (like myself) and it got me thinking about how we’re all so regular with our self pleasure, but what causes it? Why do we do it so regularly? Is it just habit? Does porn/erotica lead to it every time? Does your body tell you when it wants it? I’m curious to know.

For me there’s two reasons. One is a routine thing, I shower in the morning and it’s a nice way to start the day. The other is more irregular but usually happens when I’m a sexy chat with someone.

This is a really interesting topic. Masturbation can be really varied - there's a huge difference between knocking one out quickly in the shower or because the desire overwhelms you when you're in a place you need to be quick, compared with knowing you've got a long time and can edge for ages, during an online conversation or while watching porn or whatever. My libido is on the lower side (see: asexuality) but usually when my period and my ovulation day are near I get super horny, and most of the time it's for pee content. Idk for myself really. I think I tend to force it by looking at porn first thing because I know that I won't get a chance later and that my mind will be in a horny fog if I don't. I masturbate pretty much daily most times. I'll catch a dry spell here and there until the invisible pressure on my hips and crotch tells me that I need to cum NOW!
